Hey All,

I use the video linked to deactivate the active sound and well here are my thoughts.

It makes the experience much different. To me it was way positive, others may like the noise. It's amazing how much sounds and buzzing is pumped into the car.

The first few trips after doing this, I was a bit off in my driving as the noises were not the same as I was used to in shifting. The interior is almost as quiet as my previous DE5, and it has been so much better to drive without the excess noises, and it's a less tiring experience now driving the car.

Some may like all the low noise buzz it adds, but to me it actually detracts from the experience. Much easier to concentrate on my driving now, and less droney as well. Seeing interior videos on other videos I can easily tell the fake sounds immediately.

my .02, YMMV

The active sound never bothered me enough to where I felt like I need to do something like this.
It wasn't bothering me per se, but I did want to experiment taking it off and seeing the difference. It was a bigger change than I expected, and am glad I did it.

Did you try setting the Engine Sound to Comfort mode? I know disabling the box is quick and easy, but I found that Comfort mode either makes the sounds so low I can’t tell they’re there or it turns them off. It’s a push of a button versus taking the dash apart. It might be worth trying at least as a place to start. The only issue is if you like using the +R button, then the noise box is full on. But, if you’re like 90% of folks here, you’re probably using the Individual Settings the majority of the time.

It only takes about 10 minutes to do

Comfort does adds some buzzing, but it also shuts down the exhaust valve. Now I don't have to listen to the fake noise and can have the exhaust valve in +R mode all the time.

I recall seeing this video some time ago. With the Engine Sound in Comfort, I don't see a need to unplug the ASD module. If artificial sound is still pumped in, it's imperceptible to me. What do you mean by the exhaust valve is "shut down" with Engine Sound in Comfort?

The valve actuation is linked to the engine preference I assume - not engine sound.

my only thing about removing it is I can already barely hear the engine on track, even with the damn active sound on, without it it would be too quite. A louder exhaust would help this but I am stock for the time being so I like the active sound

I saw a comparison of a ITS and CTR the guy was saying he has that problem with the ITS has and he appreciated the active sound because its way louder and more noticeable on the CTR.

Theres a guy on YouTube that has the ITS. He did a video an got to do a back to back comparison with a FL5 CTR to his ITS, and he said that was one thing he wish the ITS had because the ITS doesnt have the fake noise, and its pretty quiet on the track.
I am pretty sure I know that video. Running the car in comfort with a helmet on you can't hear anything, I am not a fan to drive like that on track. So at the end of the day I am ok with the fake noise, I still wish the exhaust was a bit louder from the get go but at least the fake noise serves a purpose.

I don’t hear buzzing, but maybe I’m not listening for the right thing. If it is on (in Comfort mode), then it’s too subtle to notice and/or is drowned out enough by road and engine noise for me. :)

Comfort mode doesn’t shut off the exhaust valve whatsoever. Not sure where you read that. The valve is always controlled by throttle position. In each mode, Comfort, Sport, and +R the mapping is very slightly different. In Individual mode if you put the Engine in +R or Sport the throttle mapping is the same and the valve reacts accordingly. This is why folks set the engine to Sport or +R and the Engine Sound to Comfort. This way the valve works with the best Engine setting(s), but the fake sound is in Comfort (i.e. minimized or off).

Unplugging the module is certainly a valid solution. I was just curious if you’d tried the less “invasive” solution. Either way it’s really a trivial thing.

I had it unplugged when I got the lighting accessories installed. I like it unplugged. The exhaust and intake now gives it enough sound at the tracks.
