I heard that the stock rods can only handle 400whp? The KURO (not +) with FBO and intercooler is around 450whp-475whp with stock fuel system. I figured since I am doing TSP Efficiency DP that I might as well do that too.

I just dont want to go too far on the engine. Also was thinking about KURO+ but dont want to change from stock fuel system yet. I wonder if the boost can be turned down or if it could be mananged on stock fuel system so that I can future proof it and upgrade fuel system later.

I currently have mods below, and TSP Stage 1 tune from DROB.

EDIT: Do I need to gap my plugs?

PRL Inlet pipe
PRL Intake
PRL Intercooler
PRL charge pipe
PRL intercooler piping uprades
RV6 Front Pipe
Tomei Type D 3" titanium exhaust
TSP Stage 1 tune

You’ll need to keep torque under 450.
Proper maintenance and driving it responsibly, no lugging the engine, money shifting etc you should be able to “safely” run 500+ all day.
It’s when you get close to 600 you should look into upgrading engine parts.
If you have no intention of upgrading the fuel system, the + might be overkill and using it to its potential.
And tiner will tell you what you should gap to or ask them if not. But you will have to gap them down

A RMM will help with putting down the extra power.

I think you’re looking at more like 410-420 whp max on that turbo without upgrading the fuel system. Drob has a few dyno graphs on his instagram from cars with bolt ons and the Kuro turbo, both with and without upgraded fuel systems.
Ultimately, you should consult him or another FL5 tuner about your options.

"I heard that the stock rods can only handle 400whp?"

- Thankfully this is not true. We are seeing stock internal builds reaching the ballpark of 600whp pretty regularly these days.

"The KURO (not +) with FBO and intercooler is around 450whp-475whp with stock fuel system."

- Also not true. The standard Kuro makes about 425whp on 93 octane (stock fuel system) or up to about 475whp on an E30 blend IF you upgrade the fuel system.

The Kuro+ can make about 440whp on 93 octane (stock fuel system) or up to 575whp or so on an E30 blend with an upgraded fuel system.

I usually tell people that if there is no plan to upgrade the fuel system, stick to the standard Kuro. But if you are willing to upgrade the fuel system, now or later down the road, the Kuro+ is a great option. See below for one of our early Kuro+ results (stock internals, stock clutch).

Kuro+ 575.webp

can I run Kuro+ with the $2,000 all race rail and high pressure pump next to the valve cover? Or would I have to run Kuro?

What is whp on the kuro with high pressure fuel pump? DROB says higher rpm redline with the upgraded high pressure pump.

this is all i need for kuro or kuro+? pump below

Hey brother. So I am not sure how crazy you are trying to go with the Kuro+ or what current mods you already have.

1. Full Race high-pressure fuel pump kit
2. Hondata 1530cc or 2000cc Injectors
3. AEM 340 low-pressure fuel pump
4. Hondata CANFlex Flex Fuel Kit
5. JesterTune

Supporting mods to run this power effectively, depending on the use case:
1. Interccooler - bar/plate if drag, tube/fin if track
2. Full intake
3. Innovtig Catless or 5" TSP GESI Catted DP
4. WOT Performance Triple Pass Radiator + Trans Cooler
5. WOT Performance Dual Oil Cooler Kit
6. 200TW tires
7. Castrol SRF Brake fluid
8. The list never ends.....lol

Can you run the Kuro+ w/o these mods, sure! If you don't, though, you are going to hit brick walls depending on power goals, use (HPDE, time attack, drag racing, street, canyons, climate, terrain, etc)

Hope this helps......oh, and ALOT of these items are on backorder for months :(

Very nice!

If I just go Kuro stock fuel system vs kuro + allrace high pressure pump. Would that be a good setup? i dont want to do injectors and build the whole car.

Bottle neck will occur at the injectors. All can be tuned to accommodate, however then you will have thousands invested with nothing to really show for it brother. Larger turbo will jist allow to hit the limits faster.

Default back to TSP to restate:

So Kuro with high pressure fuel pump good. Kuro+ will need injectors too?

Not necessarily brother, but the benifits of the turbo will be limited just as the kuro are with the factory system.

So I just want to make sure I understand correctly. Even with Kuro, I need injectors and HPFP in order to take advantage?

Brother. To take the FULL advantage of any turbo other than stock, you NEED to upgrade the fuel system. Can you run the turbo without an upgraded system? Yes but FULL advantage will not be obtained.

Correct, the full potential of ANY turbo upgrade will not be realized on the stock fuel system

There are some good answers above, but to confirm, there are limited gains to be had when upgrading the HPFP if you don't also upgrade the injectors. In most all cases I would recommend doing both or neither of them.

I have worked on all my cars but the hpfp on this car I dont want to mess with. Have to time the crank, and the intake manifold removal is necessary to do injectors and rail.

It takes longer to do the rail and injectors then to install the turbo and downpipe.
