This is probably not going to be as exciting to people outside of Chicago area, but there's a CW coming into the dealership where I got my FL5.. If you are anywhere in the area and can take advantage of their dealership perks, they are amazing...

Free loaners for Any service (including just oil changes). Free pickup and delivery of car for any service (I haven't tried this one yet -- but i already got my free loaner for just an oil change, so i know that's for real...plus, their app is showing that i have all this available in my account). Free car washes any time their car wash facility is open (i've used that on my CBP lol).

It also includes Perma Plate.

It's 7k ADM (NO surprise charges beyond that), but it was totally worth it to me for it being local and for all the perks.

HONEST sales person who held my deal in Chicago area. He was upfront about the ADM right from the start...held my place in line and the price was the same as what he quoted when the car finally came in...AND, HE STAYED IN TOUCH WITH ME the whole time! NO hidden fees or surprises. Yes, there was an ADM, and yes, it's more than the 5k some people here are getting... but that was agreed upfront, and nowhere near the 10-15k that most major cities want.

If you are interested...

p.s. - if you are not in the area, i don't know if they would go lower on the ADM, but you can try... ;)
Congrats!

So what was your out the door price with taxes? And what is the tax percentage if you don’t mind

$56k OTD - with around 6% interest.

But... I got mine back in February...after a 7-month wait. I was 1st on the list as of beginning of Aug, but had never bought from that dealer before, or waited that long for a car. I kept hearing about people going to pick up their car and having the ADM suddenly changed. But, it was fine...and totally worth it.

Wondering if my $55,000 OTD on 6.5% tax is a good deal or not

Depending on how much you finance $5K ADM today is pretty close to the same as $7-$8K ADM 9 months ago. For reference my rate with Honda back in mid-January was 5.4% for 84 months.

Interest rates are a killer and anyone financing a large part of their car will end up paying more over the life of the loan. I know that you can refinance but many people don't expect rates to decline for another couple of years. They might even keep going up!

It's a good deal if you're happy and enjoying the vehicle. I think it's in line with what we are seeing and we really can't change anything now that the deal is done. : )
haven’t officially signed, been out of state.

A lifelong friend that works at the dealership said their head sales guy said he would match the $55k offer sheet AspecR provided

@Sheton

Again, @AspecR is a straight-shooter -- he showed you a good deal for today's market. Can you get lower? You may be able to -- some people have, but it normally takes a ton of work unless you get incredibly lucky.

As i have posted previously when people have asked...
There are those who either can't afford (much) above MSRP, or have the time to enjoy the sport of getting the best price possible, or are principled that we shouldn't be feeding greedy dealers by buying above MSRP. TBH, I agree; we should all be doing that, but the prices were through the roof before most on this forum ever got to buy a car.

Then, there's those who don't have the time due to needing the car sooner, not having enough time to do the searches, or they just cannot justify the time-cost it can take to find near-MSRP. They are trying to not be ripped off and to ensure they get about what everyone else gets.

Based on what AspecR knows from being in the trenches at the dealership, plus what everyone is reporting here... 5k is very much a Good norm. Is it the best? No. But, do people on here get MSRP? Apparently not -- maybe a couple flukes. So, if 2-6 months of constant searching (and then hoping the dealer will honor the offer) to save 2k is feasible, you can weigh that value against getting the car now. We don't know what will happen to supply (it could go up, which would drop prices more), the base MSRP will likely go up more again, and the interest rates are likely to go up but are volatile.

If you can wait until the last few days of December, that would likely be the absolute best deals -- especially if the 2024 models are out. Right now, the advantage is a better choice of colors IF that is important to you.

As has been posted here many times... it's truly a personal decision for each buyer. This forum gives us the facts... then you can decide, based on your own situation.

The one thing that won't change is the enjoyment of the car. We all paid too much since it wasn't MSRP, but we all are so happy to be driving our FL5s.

For sure, that’s why I’m asking questions and doing research here. Thanks to AspecR for the offer sheet and getting me a fair price with no haggling.

If I could save $1,000 dollars by going elsewhere then I would. But it seems like this is the best deal I can get so I will most likely be buying it this weekend.

Also, because of this forum I’ve been looking into other possible lenders with better interest rates then Honda financial. So thank you again for helping me with that aspect of the process also!

I don’t know if USSFCU has been mentioned yet. I’ve been pre-approved for 5.24% 60 months. Just haven’t found a car yet. Their current rates are as low as 4.74% 36 months.

For military folks - here's what I did:

Took advantage of the mil discount, $500 off through Honda Financial. As soon as the account was created online, I switched over to NavyFed. Over 1% less and they have a $200 cash back for refi's. Easy way to save $700!

Interest rates are so high right now, it makes zero sense for me to pay off early due to a 5% HYSA and 6.2 Bond Fund ETF that I have...

Did anyone outside Chicago area call to find out what you could get for a price?

My dealership lied and went up to $56,999 when I got there. Wouldn’t honor the $55,000 out the door.

back in the hunt for a type r for $5k ADM or less in the southeast US if anyone knows a dealership
