I came across the article and immediately thought of you...

It's funny to me. That is all..

I donno. Maybe because I’m 43, not in my 20s dumping 10k in to my shit box and racking up 300 dollar bar tabs in a weekend. Instead I like watching money grow.

I've got to be honest....

I don't care.

I am not here to judge you or anyone else on here about how they spend their money.

I am here to talk cars especially the FL5 with other sickos. I truly enjoy it! Honestly, I enjoy life. I hope you do too.

It’s best to leave finances out of online conversations unless it’s a forums specific to finances ? it’s never constructive.

I get it but its never too early to start being smart with your money. That is one thing wish I knew earlier in life.
Its all relative. The Type R will be one of the few vehicles in recent memory that will instantly appreciate the second its out the door. I wont be surprised to see $75k price tags online for gently used. Several year old 10th gens with 40k miles are going for over original msrp. This is not the current used car phenomenon its rarity. Point is it becomes an asset that will hold value enough that you will always be in the money.

But the 10k markup to me is less about the above and more about a bunch of shady and greedy people looking to take advantage of others. MSRP is MSRP for a reason.

Although in Canada I would say it isn’t rarity at all it’s straight up greed a quick search on ?? autotrader brings up 84 listing for the FK8 right now. That’s a lot, try finding a clean 8th gen Si now that’s rare lol.

I do think the FL5 will be different, numbers will be fewer and I agree will appreciate quickly.

to each their own but it still saddens me some people want to just collect this car and not drive it…

I wouldn't entertain those guys. Plus you can't just give your spot to someone else can you? If you don't want the car it should go to the next guy on the list. I'd try to find out which deal3r he is with and I would tell the dealership

I don't agree.

Dealers have additional mark up on them. Much like they do with many new cars out there. Once you've sold enough you then have a sample size that tells you what they are selling or retailing for. That is the market value based off whatever parameters you want to to define it by. So for example a 150 mile range or 250 mile range. Whatever you want to consider your market.

I would be shocked to see 75k but if some do reach that number. They could and imo would be outliers. If your sample size isn't large enough and has an outlier in... You expand the range you are willing to look or the market as it were.

MSRP stands for Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price.

It is a suggestion in the United States. If the competition to buy is low and the competition to sell is high. People pay less than MSRP.

If the competition to buy is high and the competition to sell is low well... it very well can be above MSRP.

You can call it greed or whatever but there are reasons why it makes total sense for a dealer to do this... other than what you perceive as greed.

Competition or options for a consumer bring costs down. This is true in anything that I can think of. Yet we see mergers happening all the time. We also see mega dealer chains buying up smaller dealers.

We have had the conversation of supply and demand . Its boring now. If its hondas intention to get cars into the hands of the true enthusiasts then MSRP should be paid great attention to. If its their intent to create a scarce commodity to be sold to the highest bider (i expect it is not), thats fine and at the same time will create great damage to the brand. This figures into dealerships. Thus why we call out all the huge markups. You see we will purchase many vehicles over our lives - the vehicles I buy will not be from them. Capitalism is great, the power of the consumer is to always be able to say ?. Greed and shadiness allows clarity into which dealers will survive the next 5 years - hint - it wont be those that charge huge mark ups!
