Agreed but not all people want the same thing out of a car. Price point is a big factor for people as well. For them it’s not always about best of breed, sometimes car class is a big factor given the dollars spent.
With a car like this anyone outside of the enthusiast is in the periphery. In all honesty their needs don’t matter with such limited volume.

I here yah but that doesn’t mean they don’t also want the car. Regardless of what they value in the car and don’t value doesn’t change the fact that they are competing with you and I over getting one.

I understand why many are not willing to pay markup but... does it matter or factor to anyone here at all that the cost to maintain this car is less than some of these vehicles mentioned? Or that the resale of those vehicle by percentage is very likely to be higher?

I mean it's a big factor to me.

For all my ATL folks, Ed Voyles texted me a few minutes ago and said they have 2 5K nonrefundable deposits for the 2 they are getting. Not sure if it's cap but they said they are only getting 2 and don't know the exact date yet...
The 15k markup is bad enough but asking for a 5k nonrefundable deposit is ludicrous. I just need one good Honda dealer in Georgia please.

After searching, I found one that will be selling at MSRP. That’s where my deposit is at. I’ve called other dealers since then, and they all tell me that they can’t compete with it. They won’t even compete with an MSRP for the SI
I'm sure they're only doing locals but I would absolutely drive up to Charlotte for MSRP.

The Type R isnt even the same car class as the S3 and M235 though. Its not a luxury sedan.

That’s my point. Another poster said that with the markups the price is creeping into that class of car.

Chase the conversation back and you’ll see.

i totaled a brand new wrx last year and have been waiting for this car forever. i turned down a brand new boost blue at 44 and regret it. could have made 10k. but 50k for a civic type r is insanity. you can get an s3 or m235
Lol both junk

An s3 is a boring ass car that is decently quick , but absolute shit in actual handling plus looks like a run of the mill college girl car

An m235 is a wannabe m car that loses value faster than it sells on the lot. If I’m going to spend a ton of money on a pos it would be an m3, not it’s baby brother

Insanity is not paying $50k for a ctr, insanity is paying that much for an m235 or s3

Not gonna lie, at some time this or last month I got desperate enough to consider a S3.

Then I woke up, looked at myself in the mirror and said "wtf are you doing you idiot, don't get in that choppa!!!"

I think people are starting to get defensive knowing the car isn’t going to be very easy to get and their rationale is to bash the car saying it’s not this or not that. For 50-55k there isn’t a better car than the new CTR

Only car imo that you can argue against would be the GR Corolla, but I feel that the CTR does the interior and comfort aspect way better

It definitely does the comfort and interior quality aspect better than the corolla. Even the 10th gen civic has a better interior than the corrolla
