I've moded and tuned every car I've ever owned. If I get the GRC and FL5 I'm not touching the ECM/ECU tune. Leaving that stock and opting for the longest possible extended warranty.

Will do bolts ons though and appearance parts that are removable/reversible.

Don't think I want to jeopardize either vehicles resale value.

Leaves a trace, if you try to sell a flashed car (even flashed back to stock) to VW or audi u will get what is known as a TD1 flag, when they us ODIS to scan your car for any stored faults etc. Your ECU has a flash counter. Anything not recorded at the dealership level means u tuned it.

This applies to almost all manufacturers. TD1 means bye bye powertrain warranty. I know VW/AUDIS from a tuning perspective inside and out haha.

Only car I’ve ever done anything to is my WRX. I will probably keep the Type R as stock as possible. Keeping it to a minimum, what would you do to the Type R with the Hondata? Thinking maybe as little as just an intake?

I plan to go High-end JDM with mine so a lot of overpriced stuff that most US made components will match in performance.

Hondata is a must, intake not so much. An exhaust for sure(has to be lighter than OEM). maybe swift springs.
I do plan to do 18 inch wheels with Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires(my car won’t be a daily driver) and a lot of carbon accessories.

So have I, most dealers won't scan your car for flashes until they need to. If you sell back to VW/AUDI as part of CPO process they 100% have to scan via ODIS. And if I'm looking to buy used, you bet your ass I will not pay stock prices for a modded/tuned vehicle. But I am aware of these things, most aren't. So you could get lucky.

I've had carbon and senor related work done via warranty no issues, because they aren't tune related. If you pop anything or turbo goes (IS20 issues), you can bet TD1 will bite.

Big money haha. I’ll most likely never touch the exhaust, suspension, or wheels. Wouldn’t mind maybe some TE37’s down the road, but damn they’re expensive lol. Probably Hondata will be it, and maybe an intake for some noise lol

This is actually a good topic. Which exhausts for the FK8 have the best sound? Can’t stand the typical Honda raspy sound you get with most aftermarket exhausts.

AWE makes a good one (Touring Edition) for the FK8. US-made and not the most expensive either. No drone on the highway. Hondata and high-flow air filter. No other mods. Maybe around 350 hp.

93 octane tune w no mods saw 350-360whp on the fk8. I'll prob just get that and a nice titanium exhaust for the burbles and weight savings.

That does sound pretty good. I feel like I’ve seen some videos of the Invidia R400 that sounded pretty good as well.

Don’t run anything less than the required octane for the tune. Engine will knock which will cause issues in the short term

Lol I think you mean short term, running 87 on a 93 tune, do a few pulls and pieces of your engine will be on the floor real quick haha.

Yea short term and the powertrain warranty will be voided automatically because of the tune

Knock sensor will pull timing so you should be good. Honestly everyone gets a bad tank of gas sometime and the car will compensate.

Depending on the tuner and tune some people like to push (lower) the knock threshold and desensitize the knock sensors. Knock sensors can catch some pre-denotation, but if it's real bad they won't save you. Events like LSPI in turbo cars are real engine killer, so if you tune be very careful of that.

Bad gas has blown many engines from what I've seen, esp for those looking to push their cars for racing purposes. This is why Eth is such a god send.
