If the CTR is gonna be too hard to get your hands on, is anyone thinking about getting the Hyundai Elantra N instead? (I know. Its ?) That's probably the only FWD currently offered which comes anywhere close to the CTR in driving experience and power numbers, albeit falls embarrassingly short of it. Hopefully it does not come down to it, but what other cars are you guys considering? ?
As some others have said, I'm in the "CTR or bust" camp. I'm not really car shopping so much as I'm Type R shopping -- I'm buying with the intention of keeping it for the next 25 years. The only others cars I would consider at this point would be a DC2R or Porsche 911.

That should be a great car! But going by the price of the Integra A Spec, it would be over priced for what it would offer. I can only own one car at the moment so it should be an all year round car. So its either FWD or AWD and sadly no RWD.
I wouldn't count out any wheel configuration nowadays. My experience with a BMW M235i when I decided to go with Bridgestone Blizzaks transformed the car into a better snow traveler than my current STI with All Weather tires.

I was literally getting stuck in 1/2" of snow and I had Chicago winters. Once the Blizzaks were on I could track turns at 15mph in 1 foot of snow. Was a revelation.

Yeah similar situation for me. Im pretty much deadset on the Type R and plan to keep it long term as my daily driver. Don't really see myself having something else. Maybe the manual GR Supra but the Type R has more of a cool factor to me. Porsche 911 is nice but way too much money. If I going to be spending money like that I'd rather have a Ferrari 458 ?

I’d sooner buy a Golf R or GTI. Actually if your considering the Hyundai why not just go for an FK8. The market is flooded with them for sale right now since the launch of the FL5. My local search on Autotrader within a 1000km radius had 12 listings before the launch, now it has 26 listings.

GR86 is also a great choice. Even though there are plenty of them being made dealers are hoarding them with crazy markups. I don't see this car making a 3rd gen when noones buying them cause markups.
Same shit with the 2022 Golf R’s here. MSRP here is $51000 plus tax. and some dealership on the island in BC bought up all the available non pre purchased ones in western Canada, they had 3-4 on the lot in late May early April listed for $69900. Last time I looked (a week ago) they were all still there. I hope they choke on them.

That kind of markup is unheard of in Canada. This is a new post Covid thing up here.

My short term plan was to buy a 987.2 Cayman S and drive it for 3-4 years just to get familiar with the brand them buy my dream car a 911. Then prices got right out of hand. 35k Caymans we’re being listed for 50-60k. The next turn off for me on the Porsche’s are the dealership maintenance costs. My Neibour just bought a base Cayenne and told me a tire rotation and oil change cost him $1600!!! I literally change the Oil on my Gladiator for $65. I can’t pay $1600 on principle alone.

Not saying I’ll never get my 911 but right now I think the CTR is going to be the best bang for buck performance and practicality wise out there.

The other big turn on for me is the sleeper aspect of the CTR. If you know, you know and if not, that’s your problem not mine.

Honestly I'm really considering a used black FK8 as my back up plan haha. Black hides enough of the wild shenanigans going on with the exterior design, although it'll be a pain to keep clean. We'll see how things turn out soon enough I'm sure.

I don't know what your neighbor's up to, but oil changes shouldn't run more than $300 at the Porsche dealer. The 80k maintenance (or 75k or whatever it happens to be) will run just over $1200, but it shouldn't be $1600 on the regular...
