My wife is certainly not as excited about the FL5 as I am. Thought my FK8s looked like clown cars. Says the new Pilot Trailsport looks amazing though. Whatever.

Then that is probably one of the reasons that someone is willingly paying 10k markups on a 45k vehicle.

I can’t speak for other Canadians on here but the the value of my property has gone up 4 times since I purchased it 10 years ago while my household income hasn’t even come close to that increase. We pay a lot of money for housing here, especially in my market.

Dealer markups have never been a thing in Canada. We actually tend to get relatively reasonable pricing on vehicles compared to other countries. So when we Canadian scoff at the idea of them, that’s why.

Whats got me pissed is that I did everything right according to Canadian customs in purchasing a desirable vehicle. I got in early to my dealership and put down a deposit and have waited patiently. Now at the last minute the rules have changed.

It’s the equivalent of waiting outside in the rain for two days for concert tickets, then five minutes before the box office opens they tell everyone to put there names in a hat.

Again, any comments I’ve made, were directed at individuals who have continually laughed at anyone from the states, not getting their cars at MSRP. I understand supply and demand, but at a certain point, even I agree it’s just gouging.
As for paying $10k over for a Type R, obvious that’s something I don’t want to do, if at all possible, and I will do everything I can to avoid it, but I also know this is a car I would keep forever. I mean, I know people who pay thousands of dollars for individual baseball cards, or $20,000 on a wedding ring, not to mention the cost of the wedding. People are willing to pay all kinds of outrageous costs, for things that are plain not worth it, to anyone but them… so what makes this any different? If some of us want it that bad, and that’s what it comes to, and we can afford it…what’s the issue?

Effectively, the idea is that consumers are enabling dealership markups.

Let’s just say our two countries have different core values regarding commercialism. There is a reason why we don’t kill each other over half off toasters and TV’s at Walmart on Black Friday.
