Morning! not wanting to cause any click bait. Past Monday I got 2 recall letters for my 2023 FL5 - High pressure fuel pump and sticky steering.

I found this video on the latter - - but not much information on the former, which scares me due to fire risks. I called the dealer immediately and got parts ordered. Just wanted to ask your experience on the repair and after repair experience, I assume there are no risks, am I right? Thanks for chiming in!

I had not heard about the fuel pump recall. I don't think you need to worry about fire risk too much. It should be safe to drive the car normally until your dealer gets the repair parts.

Fuel pumps were a thing for all FK8's. Since they share the same engine it makes sense the FL5 might be affected as well.

FK8 sources the fuel pump from Great Britain. The FL5 doesn’t

Thanks for the comments. The letter on the steering rack states for the FL5 model the steering box assembly will be replaced and the one on the pump just talks about inspection and replacement upon judgement from the technician. I will post back once I get the repairs done.

We have the steering recall in South Africa for about two months if I "recall" :). In the US it's been out longer.

I was also apprehensive at first. Steering ticking sound is goneI could be confusing it with the service which I had done while the car was in for the recall. Overall, pleased that it's sorted. That ticking sound was annoying.

But after a few weeks I noticed handling issues.

I got the recall soon after I purchased the car (July 2024) for the steering. Nothing about any fuel pump. I doublechecked, too.

As for the steering worm-gear, I took the car in early January. I had noticed no performance issies or noises, and the car didn't feel any different after the inspection, which, according to the mechanic, revealed no problems. He said they relubricated the areas in question, put the assembly back together, and voilà, it was all done in under two hours. Honda's notification alerted to be ready for a full day of work. So, I'm glad it wasn't that complicated--sort of. I just hope no one swept anything under the rug!

Anyway, no issues since... fingers crossed...

hi guys,

So I picked up the car today after the steering recall, after minutes driving I noticed the car felt weird, it was pulling to the left and I was getting the traction control indicator blinking at times on the dash. I turned around and drove back in. The technician took the car for a drive with me on the passenger seat and immediately noticed it. His comment was along the lines of, this car is meant to be planted straight and how bad will this be at 100 mph....

He told me the alignment could not be the reason, as the steering wheel also moves to the left slightly. He apologised and told me he had been very careful with it. I left the car there and now I dont know if I should be worried or trust them. Has anyone had a similar experience and can help me understand what the root cause could be?

I am honestly very puzzled, I want to keep this car and an issue with the steering is no joke. Any similar experiences are welcome, thank you all!

They are meant to do the alignment. If it's pulling to the left it could be a combination of steering and alignment. Hopefully that can be resolved with the checks thats meant to be done with the recall.

I don't have the same issue, but if I accelerate too quickly or take a bend that I would normally be confident with, the steering loosens and feels likes it going in a direction it shouldn't be. And my VSA comes on. This only happens at speed, feels like excessive torque steer.

I'm waiting to hear back from Honda on when I can take it in. I share your concerns.Good luck to us both.

I believe there is a procedure they’re supposed to do to recalibrate the steering angle sensor. Maybe they usually get away with not doing it.

You are then noticing an anomaly at high speeds only? I noticed the issue at low speeds and the VSC was coming on while cruising at no more than 30 mph. They did do the alignment but they did not mention anything about the steering sensor. I hope they give you a clear answer and solve the issue!
thanks for chiming in

Also based in South Africa. Im sitting at the dealer right now getting my annual oil service sorted. Service advisor informing me that they need to replace the entire steering rack?

And they want the car to come back for an entire day.

What happens if you don't follow through on the campaign? My steering is perfectly fine as it is. I don't want to potentially create a problem where there wasn't one

It's a tough decision. The service bulletin says it could be dangerous in the long run. But my recall feels like it created a more dangerous situation.

Personally, in hindsight, I should have held out as long as possible. I'm in talks with Honda SA and dealership now. It's too much of a headache already for me. The car is not fun to drive anymore and I've lost confidence in it.

On the flip side there are many owners that I know off that had the recall done without any issues. Are you on the FL5 WA group?

Thanks for the detailed response bro. Look they said they ordering parts for me. Do you think I should ask them to hang on based on what ur telling me?

No I'm only on this forum. My JDM days started in the late 1990s and after purchasing an S2k in 2005, got properly involved on forums local and international. Club meets etc. I bought the FL5 typically for some track day fun. MY2023 and I've only done 5000 kms. I sold the S2k some years back and haven't been on any platforms since. How's the current JDM car culture? Which city are you in?
