Hi all, wondering if I should tune or stay stock, and I'd like to hear your thoughts:

2025 Civic Si 1.5T

My driving style:
Good habits (waiting until oil is warm before, I work my engine but never beat on it, etc...)
Many redlines per drive once car is warmed up.
WOT often
Highway and rolling pulls often
Aggressive backcountry driving in summers.
No clutch dumping and will usually roll into WOT around 3k
Generally, I drive my car hard and give it the beans, but respectfully and with good habits.

Not interested in monitoring IATs or K.Con
Not interested in doing headstuds
Not interested in upgraded clutch and don't want to risk clutch slip.
Using Michigan 93
Only mod is PRL Intercooler for steady IATs.

Interested in a set-it-and-forget-it tune. I would rather go WOT with stock-ish boost than half throttle at high boost.

I'm ok with stock power but could maybe use a little more. I'm interested in the Phearable 1.5R tune 16psi Map 1 because I drive aggressively with many redlines, etc. and have some quality of life updates (no start-stop, rev hang lessened). Map 2 is probably a no since I don't want to monitor K.Con, don't want to risk clutch slip, don't want to risk head gasket issues.

So, is it worth getting K.Tuner + Phearable 1.5R with the Map 1 tune based on my driving style?

if you dont want to upgrade clutch or headstuds id stick with stock power. I am tuned with upgraded turbo on both of them stock but a lot of people have issues with just a tune. I will be upgrading soon though. I ran map 3 of phearable tune with no issues slipping or anything just dont really floor it until 4k rpm+ and you are fine.
Id recommend it if you get bored with the stock power but if you are currently happy with it you should stay stock for now.

Driving style: Keep my distance do the speed limit chill type driver.
Mostly highway to and from work, some backroads. Some spirited toots here snd there! Occssional Wap leaving gas stations, under interstate bridges, and back road pulls.

Tuning experience notes: Tune feels great, car sounds wild now. Sounds range from deep droney sound to varying levels of raspy growl to full on warp speed in higher rpms, sounds awesome. Cold starts are loud, a loud growl is let out. Phearable tune cleaned up a lot of fluttery throttle spots, it smoothed out the sound overall and upon deceleration it is smoother, simulated speed down, shifting, feel smoother too less gargle it out from the exhaust just more smooth sounding. Very happy overall with it

I have TSP stage 1 tune. I daily on map 2 with 18 psi max, stock is about 15-16psi. From what I understand its boost by gear, meaning you wont hit max boost until your in 3rd or 4th gear. Its a great tune, I've had for about 4k miles without any issues.

Total tuned time: 1 day 🤭

Tuned miles driven: 10

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata FlashPro

Tunes used: Hondata 240 CARB

Fuel used: CA 91 (usually Costco but can vary)

Additional related mods: bone stock

Problems/issues: None

Driving style: Normal driving with an occasional burst of speed here and there

Tuning experience notes: After adding the Hondata +6 CARB tune to my wife's '21 EX HB CVT, I figured I should Hondata-up my own! The tune gives the car an OEM+ feel, meaning it should've been like this off the dealer lot. The extra torque gives that nice, lowdown shove similar to the feeling in my old '15 Fiesta ST, so it creates a more fun driving experience. I will give updates when more meaningful miles are added, of course, but I wanted to get this added to gtman's thread.

Hearing it described as "OEM+" just sealed the deal for me. I still want to do the RV6 clutch before I tune, but a basic, mild tune for a bit extra shove is all I really want. What made you go with the Hondata tune over TSP or Phearable? Are you worried about the clutch or head studs, or is it mild enough of a tune that it shouldn't be an issue?

From reading and researching, the OTS Hondata tunes are very safe, and as gtman said in one of his posts on the CivicX forum, you upload it and forget about it. That's kind of what I wanted: upload, have fun, and don't really worry about it after. And since I am in CA, I wanted something that would pass smog even though I won't have to be smogged 'til 2031, anyway. But the tune is technically CARB pending, not approved, so I guess my logic there is moot. 😅

Total tuned time: 2 years

Tuned miles driven: 25,000

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata flash pro(race)

Tunes used: base map stage 2 (reduced torque limits)

Fuel used:
93 octane, every blue moon ill throw a gallon of e85 if im empty and going completely full( just preference )

Additional related mods: PRL HVI, PRL TI inlet pipe, MAPerformance DP, Res. Delete

Problems/issues: only issue i noticed was some clutch slip in the beginning, reduced torque and throttle sensitivity, and only going WOT after 4000rpm haven't had any issue since

Driving style: mostly high way and back roads 80% baby it, 20% is spirited.. maybe one light pull a day, not agressive no launching or redlining, dont utilize no lift shift but it is enabled

Tuning experience notes:
Best modification for the money. I adjusted torque tables for both normal and sport mode so that in normal mode its like "stock sport mode" as far as responsiveness and boost levels (17-18 psi) will see an occasional 19 or 20 at WOT past 4k rpm. Sport mode the tables are higher and its very responsive so i have to be mindful with the pedal or it wants to spike right to 24 psi. makes for 2 totally different driving experiences. i ran hondata on the 10th gen(not my personal car) for 110xxx plus miles but lifted head at 70xxx( car was driven aggressively)

I ended up getting pretty bad COVID so haven't been able to do much of anything. But I did drive 10 miles to the pharmacy to pick up some meds. The weather was a nice 66F compared to 95F when I first installed the tune. This was a nice gauge of how the tune impacted the car, and it ABSOLUTELY wakes the car up. On 40% throttle just through gears 1-3 alone, it feels like a whole new engine. And this is only on the 240 tune. Once I am fully recovered, I can't wait to get more time behind the wheel, and as my wife said about her own Hondata tune, the fall/winter months are going to be fun. :D

What psi levels are you seeing with your Hondata 240 tune?

Driving normally pretty easy. I nearly redline everytime I drive. Power falls off after 6600 so what’s the point? Also always hit a least 100 if possible every drive. I’ll do that stuff at like 50-60% throttle. I’ll only go WOT if I’m out in Mexico for some racing. Been trying to live in the above 4 k rpm range just to be more comfortable

Tuning notes : tuning is the best bang for your buck you can do. Phearable is so much better than the bad al. I like the throttle padding/input of the tune. 3rd gear absolutely rips. I was NOT expecting that.

Driving style: Between driving like grandma and like I stole it, and everywhere between.

Tuning experience notes: Multiple basemap and custom tuning on 10th gen 2.0NA using Ktuner, with almost 40,000 miles before reflashing to stock when I traded it in for the 11th gen Type R last July. I'm fresh to Hondata, but it's essentially the same (narrator: no it's not) with quite a bit more adjustability maps. I was finally able to get it unlocked at a Hondata Jailbreak event last Saturday and loaded the 93-Octane Hondata basemap with revhang delete. I had about 5500 miles before the tune, and nearly 5800ish miles since tuning (done a lot of driving the last few days). It's quite remarkable how much it improves the powerband and holds boost, and especially how much it improves the driving experience with the removal of revhang. I'll also note that my mpg's went up quite significantly, where I was averaging 18-20mpg, for this tank I'm seeing 200 miles before the fuel light has even come on. The computer is calculating 25+, but we'll see where it actually lands.

I plan to replace the downpipe, front pipe, and intercooler eventually. Hopefully this plays a little nicer with highflow cats than the N/A did.
I've added 5000 miles since this post, and the primary comment I'll make about the 93 octane Hondata base map tune is that it greatly improves mileage. And also, again, removing rev hang is a significant quality of life improvement. It's still running pretty much new, minus a few knicks in the paint, and the tires certainly aren't fresh, but the engine still purrs. 👍🏼
