Gotta be careful on aluminum. I'd go orange strip and some green scrub pads.

Yes that's what I gathered aluminum is tougher then stainless. I don't want to mess it up. I'd be really mad if the solution ate right through.

Almost 2k and they spray paint a brand new intercooler. Definitely not happy about that. Anyone know how to remove paint from a intercooler?

Goof Off (or Citristrip)

let it soak for 30 min, rinse, repeat if necessary.

aircraft stripper is stronger, might need to use it if the above leaves residues.

I was looking at the j’s racing. But the lead time on them was about 3-4 months.
Yeah, they are build to order (I received mine less than two months after ordering though). If you order through BHJ, they will respond in a few days if the part is not in stock asking if you would like to wait or cancel your order.

If it were me, I would not mess with it and simply return and buy a different intercooler. After researching available intercooler options (reference this thread), I believe the J's Racing and HKS are the best options as both are true T&F intercoolers.

PWR is apparently a good option to consider but the hybrid B&P thing and claims of F1 technology without providing core details never resonated with me. From the outside, it still looks like a B&P. It also adds 2 additional tubes over OEM and I don't particularly care for the fin design considering the price.

Here is a close up PIC of the fins on the J's Racing Hyper Intercooler with core design details posted here:

Did you check the lead time on the HKS intercooler kit? I have found the lead times reported from BHJ are conservative.

I didn’t, already ordered the pwr, should be showing up next week. I’ll just either try to remove the logo or paint it black.

I'm not convinced that there is a better option for a intercooler on the market. I just don't want to be a billboard in less I'm compensated. I'd be happy to compare real world data once you build your car.

I guess it depends on your goals if there is a better option. Better at what?

Doing it's job as a intercooler.
Ok so OEM works great. Couple of street pulls around town driving. Light weight. Durable. Cost effective. Probably the best option right?

There is no "best" just a list of requirements and then pick the one that fits.

I mean the oem is the best for you because it's on your car right.
It's not like pwr and J's didn't make intercooler for fk8 and the information is hidden lol
