Ok...I sobered up...who's buying $5k brakes...oh....yeah not happening right now lol

Man...drunk dreaming and buying should have some type of passcode or a breathalyzer after like 11PM ?
lol. I bet they sold a lot of them. But yeah it would make sense if the only way to run 18s was to change the brake system which is why I think so many m2 owners bought them but also apparently such a great system,

I was thinking last night about the paragon pads since now some of us have had deposits on them and it is just not me.
I wonder if the issue is not really the pads but the rotors. I wonder if girodiscs or paragon rotors do better with the R5s because they dissipate heat better.

unexpected road trip to Michigan yesterday and today. The R guzzles gas at any speed over 80ish. Otherwise uneventful even though it's fucking freezing. ?

It's definitely the pads...but a Giro would assist with thermal management. R5's are more of a hybrid pad, or an option for a rear axle compound. I'd recommend trying a different brand :). Paragon is just rebranded, generic Winmax compounds at the end of the day.

The feedback I keep seeing on the R5's is the same feedback I keep seeing on the PMU Club Racers (but the CR's seem to clean themselves better) -- that they can't tolerate the front axle heat, and in turn, leave deposits in a few laps.

The FL5...REALLY...likes to stop, and is really good at it; therefore, it generates a lot of heat pretty easily, especially on stickier rubber, or if you are slapping the ABS a lot. This compound may work decently on, say a GR86, but the demands are very different on the FL5.

Re: your previous note about Titanium Shims being a must...I agree with certain equipment choices, but not all. I've got an end-of-season brake writeup coming that should hopefully help shed some light on the efficacy of my setup

Do you typically buy expensive car parts while sober? Those are always a shotgun purchase after a few beers ?

Anyone thoughts on the RV6 Camber arms vs the SPC/Eibach shaped arms?
Can you install the RV6 Camber arms without their own lower arm?

also a question for the thread since last day to buy stuff.

again with tow hooks...

do yall think there will be a different tow hook option? (specially for the front but also the back) or should I just buy the evasive front and back?

I don't love the kind of surgery you have to do to install the front but I also can't see any other way to do this

I don't like the surgery either. I've been wanting to design one myself, but just haven't had the time.

yeah I just dunno how one would mount one without having it come through the brake intake. The M&M tow strap looks nice and there is less cutting (well gotta cut the bumper grill which sucks) but at least there is no blocking of the brake intake. However I want to be able to remove the hook/strap and that one seems to be more permanent (unless you cut a bigger hole on the grill which I would not want to do

I'm getting tow straps. Seems like a cleaner install. Imo they look better and are lighter weight.

but where are you going to mount them?

not concerned about weight, its not a lot but I do like straps too but no one really is making straps for this car apart from M&M, the rear won't fit the US market car and the front you have to cut into the grill in the bumper and have it be permanently there which I don't love

I think it would be possible to fish one through the upper grill without needing to cut anything.
