Okay guys, headed to Nashville for my first trackday tomorrow! Changed out the brake fluid, removed the water diverter. Anything else? What PSI should I run. Can’t imagine I’ll notice a performance difference, but if there is a pressure range that helps keep the tires from wearing down super fast I’d appreciate it! Car is fully stock other than brake fluid.
You’ll want to measure the tire pressures when the tires are hot right after your session. You should be in the range of 35 to 37 for the fronts, and 37 to 39 in the rear.

I wouldn’t go much lower on OEM tires they have really soft sidewalls.

Make sure your lug nuts are torqued, bring lots of water, and enjoy your first track day man!!

If it’s your first ever track day, just have fun.

If it’s the first track day in the FL5, find out what suspension mode, tire pressures work for you. And have fun!

what they both said.

Just have fun!

And keep pressures a bit higher on the ps4s with stock camber so you don't destroy em that much

No longer a track day virgin! Wow, what a blast, I am absolutely hooked! Ready to move to intermediate next time, didn’t have to point anyone by! Can’t believe how well the Type R performs out of the box. Hopefully have some pics and vids in the coming days.

NASA's Octoberfast event is right around the corner (next weekend). I wasn't planning on attending, and haven't been out with NASA again since the wreck. I was on the phone with my buddy Chris talking him through some turbo questions for a BMW build, and he made mention of the instructor clinic that is being offered at the Octoberfast event and convinced me to email the event holder for placement. I was really hesitant, but decided to shoot my shot. I received an email back from the event holder less than 3 minutes later (I was still on the phone with my buddy) and they accepted me. So now I guess I'm going to the event after all. I've got instructor school on Friday, and will immediately receive a student assignment for the Saturday-Sunday event. Needless to say...I'm nervous as hell.....

Take it easy. A friend of mine recently just became an instructor. Just be yourself. Good luck.

Is it okay for the caliper nipples to leak a little after changing brake fluid? I noticed some evidence of leakage after tracking the car yesterday. I didn’t think too much since the pedal felt good, and the brake reservoir was at the max line. i believe i torqued front to 10 ft lb and rear to 13.

Yes I think that was an issue if you don't blow out around the nipple after bleeding them. I have it too.

It's normal. Hit it with some brake clean so that the fluid doesn't eat through the coating on your calipers.

Enjoy the weekend, you'll do great! In my experience they are always more nervous than you. It's a totally new experience for them and they will be leaning on you for guidance. For the most part they will listen to everything you tell them.

From what my buddy, who has been through this, is telling me. That they don't even teach you how to be an instructor. They just teach you how to be a NASA employee. Seems a bit strange, but it makes sense since there was such variance in the messages that I received from my instructors. Really no consistency at all. All I know is, I want to do a really good job.

Id never be an instructor because I am a terrible passenger but I really appreciate everyone who instructs. I have had some really good instructors, a couple of bad ones but the good ones outweigh the bad ones by a ten fold.

You will do great, seems like you are a great communicator and that's one of the most important parts.

We need more instructors, I have seen some novices going out with no instructor because not enough were avail and that sucks

Don't assume drivers know any of the terms you're using. Having just come back to HPDE after a long break I forgot some terms.

Also I had a lot of luck when my last instructor just had me drive a few laps with no instruction just to see what I had picked up. That was enjoyable to get a chance to just drive and try on my own. he was still in car just not giving input unless needed to avoid an issue
