@Unity Performance Is the video posted the production model? Also is that with an aftermarket DP?

Take a look at the MXP exhaust also if you're wanting the Apexi system.

Pre-production. Production model sounds the same, just with an updated valve design. The sound clips are with a stock DP. I don't have clips yet on YouTube from the exterior with the DP on, but here's an interior video:

Nice, didn't know the MXP existed yet. Good to see it's valved but no Front Pipe is a bummer, and the dual tip setup leaves a lot of open space in the diffuser area.

Looks pretty good. Everybody is doing clamps sadly?
Yep....can't do it. I have a hard stance on bolt up flanges. Clamp style is certainly easier to produce, and I get that from a manufacturing standpoint, and even an "ease of installation" (maybe) standpoint. Bolt up flanges are much harder to locate into their proper locations during manufacturing to have a flawless fitment for the end user, and to me that's part of the skill/art that I appreciate when purchasing something as important as an exhaust system.

No problem, let's take this conversation separately via inbox so we can discuss what works for you with Flanges :)

@Unity Performance not wild about either tip option. I’d prefer just simple polished. Would either of MBRPs std polished tips work? On their site they have some polished options. It’s unclear from the pics what the left and right tip inlet size is. The center inlet looks to be 3”.

You can certainly choose from the array of MBRP Tips post-purchase. Different finishes, even staggered sizes like how the FL5 comes stock

And if you want to complain about pricing, let's look at Cusco's rear wing risers: two brackets for $1,100. Holy cow.

Totally worth it! ?

(Honestly though, I had a career machinist take a look at them and he insisted they were very well made. I'm sure they've got a nice margin on them, but the quality will not disappoint!)

11th Gen Honda Civic MBRP FL5 Valved Exhaust now available for FL5 Civic Type R! IMG_0786

Hey Humza! Would you mind sharing the exhaust tip inlet size for this MBRP system? It looks like the system comes with tips that have 4.5" outlets and I see they have a lot of tips available on their site.

You can get them for about $730 shipped from Japan if you look in the right places.

@RUNN1N came back here for the same clarification. From the pics, the L&R tip inlets appear to be a different diameter than the center.

Evening guys! First off, wanted to thank @RUNN1N for pulling the trigger on this exhaust !!

Yup, I reviewed "abandoned carts" earlier today on the back-end of my site and wanted to personally reach out to anyone interested, to understand what they were seeking out. Since I don't see his full name here, I'll just say "P" responded that he was cross-shopping with Borla, so to better inform myself I went on to YouTube and watched the preview video of the upcoming FL5 Borla ATAK as well as older FK8 Borla ATAK clips to remind myself since I hadn't heard one in person for some time - there is a local friend who had on on his FK8, and I just remembered that he's now running MBRP as a quieter option. I also went on CivicX and Facebook looking for Borla posts. Borla has one of the cleanest sound rumbles of any exhaust systems but it's not on any lists when people ask for quiet exhaust recommendations.

Let me first say that I'm a Borla fan, and I literally fan boy'd the first time I met David Borla at SEMA. I know that ATAK is the loudest of their 3 main muffler designs (Touring is light, S-Type is mild, ATAK is loud). In P's email he mentioned that he didn't want the most shoutiest of systems when dropping off his kids to school or while his family is with him, so with that info I knew that ATAK may not be suited for him.

We jumped on a call because it's easier, went through more of what P wanted in an exhaust, what I thought of the Borla ATAK and Borla's other muffler styles which they sadly didn't offer for the FK8 so I'm doubtful they'd offer them for the FL5 either. Since the FK8 Borla costs $2,700 USD, and it doesn't look like much of a design change for the FL5 minus adding a valve I'm guessing the FL5 system will have a price of $3100 - 3,200 now that the valve has been added. We chatted about other exhaust systems, mod plans, and some fun banter. P's looking for something that won't disturb the neighborhood but when he wants to hear it, it's there. And he's saving $1k+ in process, which he's pointed out will go towards his LED projects ?

I'm looking forward to P's feedback on this exhaust, and I'm open to conversations with anyone if they're looking for exhaust or any parts for your build as I love the tailoring process and getting to know who I'm actually offering service to. Off-topic but I hope to meet several of you at the CivicX Tail of the Dragon event in April!

Side note...someone from Nebraska also ordered the exhaust within minutes of P's order, so I'm gonna reach out to him now, and try to see if it's a forum member as well!

Goodnight all :)
Absolutely incredible writeup and service from a vendor. I’m impressed after reading your threads. I have been a Borla fanboy for as long as I can remember (have owned 3 borla systems: 2018 Audi S4 S-type and 2020 Mustang S550 S-type and Atak). I am genuinely interested in seeing the price they release their system at before ordering an exhaust. I will say the Borla Atak and MBRP are by far the best sounding systems I have heard thus far for both the FL5 and S550 Mustang lol. We appreciate people like you taking the time to genuinely help out community.

In regards to pricing, the mustang has 2 mufflers and 2 valves and the msrp is $2,573.99 (I bought my system for $2,150 shipped from a reputable vendor) so I appreciate you explaining then economies of scale when it comes to the Type R and Type S from a development standpoint. I will most likely go with the MBRP after comparing both videos, but it will be a hard pill to swallow knowing I’m paying over $2,000 for an exhaust that is essentially fewer pieces ?

Thank you,
Mike

If you get it, and you're ever near Naples, I'd love to hear it.
