Congrats man, is ur sales named Connor? I was talking to him for the whole week asking if your deal went through, he said he will let me know if something comes available. In the end, he was able to put me down on the list for his next allotment with a deposit and car will be here in 2-3 years he said.

Congrats again and enjoy the car.

If someone is interested, Penticton Honda in BC is still taking deposit (asked last Thursday. They are the one who wants 5k). Will be 3rd in line with no guarantee timeline and msrp + applicable dealer fees. Don’t want to hold up that much $ so I go with another dealer.
The deal tbh at first was a mess! Lol
2-3 sales were contacting me (long story). But in the end I was transferred to Connor, yes he’s the one who drove from Castlegar to LM! Haha

Thank you! I see you’re from LM/Vancouver area too. I know it’s hard to look for allocation rn, but you’re in the right track! Just be active in this group and keep checking cargurus. Good luck! ??

again, thank you so much everyone! Looking forward to meeting you guys someday. ??

Southern Ontarian here and here is my story.

i bought an FK8 in 2020 and absolutely loved it, waited 6 months for the car but when I got the call from the dealership I was definitely stoked. Fast forward to may 2022 and I’m going out one night for a drive and the car was gone. My baby stolen from me.

January 2023 rolls around and I’m hearing stories about how long ppl are waiting, I needed a car right away so I ended up purchasing a used Focus RS. Great car, but not scratching that same itch that the type R did. I’m now realizing I want to get on the hunt for a new FL5.

anyone got any tips for someone getting into the game now? Willing to wait it out in the RS until spring/summer 2024 is this realistic for delivery? Looking to put a deposit on one what’s the best strategy in terms of finding a dealer and getting one to work with me on securing one?

Also, what are wait times looking like on a new type S?
thanks guys

Hey, Happy New Year!

Sorry to hear that about your FK8. I believe it’s still possible to get FL5 without allocation, you will need to double your time and effort tho.

1. I’d suggest to start calling from your nearest dealership to the farthest you are willing to go (even across province if you’ll ask me). Why? Because wayback when the start of news regarding small allocation of FL5s here in Canada started, lots of small dealership didn’t took reservations for it but randomly received an allocation.

2. Be active here in the group and car websites. With luck and perfect timing, you might struck a good deal from a cancelled allocations (like me).

3. Anything is possible if budget is unstoppable! Talked to a guy 4 days ago where it only took him a day to find a BN 24 MY allocation that’s coming this January. The price is 70 + Tax tho.

Good luck! ??

I might be wrong on this, but it looks like the SGP I posted in Prince George BC might be back on the market. It's back on Car Gurus. Any takers?
Isn't that the dealer that will only sell locally? I might have it mixed up with another in BC.

I believe you are right, I called them before. But if it’s available again, there’s no harm asking/calling. Go for it lol!

No you're not, I was just telling myself I should program that HomeLink to my garage. Also the rear view mirror has anti-glare on/off using a sensor to change gel color ... kindda like tints

I posted that up a while ago and it was reposted just recently, so I assume something fell through. For those that can get it, go for it!
big shout out to @onepointsix :headbang:for finding these, I am now convinced he has cron job script that pulls car guru every morning at 4 am and gets an email of a list of finds ?
