My 14 month update on owning the R. Part 1.
Great Scott! If I had a Delorean, would I go back and by the R again? I was pretty impressed in the first few months of ownership, but have I changed my mind? Is the honeymoon over? Part 1 is all about the exterior and interior with Part 2 covers...
Those look good. One thing that I’d miss would be the ability for air to still flow out of the wheel well like stock. I actually only wanted the mesh in the beginning to stop rocks from flying onto the doors, as I had seen rock debris in the lower parts of the fender opening and I live in a...
Last year FX3D fired out a set of their version 3 rock guards for me to test out. I really don't like mud flaps (er, Rock Guards) as they seem too "boy-rally ish" to me. However the version 3 were pretty unnoticeable, did what they promised, and looked okay, so I kept them on.
V4 landed on...
I posted a video a week ago on my YouTube channel basically talking about why I stopped driving my R. It's really a discussion about life's priorities and a nudge to to appreciate the people around you before they're gone.
The Honda Civic Type R is truly a cool car but pales in comparison to...
There are not any mud flaps that actually fit the Type R. My dealership also tried to pull that one on me and the parts guy spent 1/2 hour trying to find a non-existent part... (not that $162 is a make or break item on that big list)
This is bittersweet as there are people who aren't going to get one, but on the flip side, good for those of us who were fortunate enough to snag one in terms of scarcity. What frustrates me the most are the dealers who worked around Honda's MSRP selling rules and screwed over many people. I...
Dropped by my dealer a few days ago. I was 4th to get mine last August, and they are now only expecting one more for 2025. Five in total for biggest Western Canada dealer (so they say). Originally they were told like 9 or 10 and are now only getting 5. Why so secretive Honda? Dealerships don't...
I did a review on the FX3D guards and started off quite Leary of them, only wanting the mesh to stop the rocks, but found the ability to mostly hide them and still protect some paint, won me over. Company is very responsive on this forum and keep on adapting their product with the help of users...
FX3D kindly send me a version 3.1 of their Type R Rock guard and mesh kit to evaluate. I was actually very interested in the mesh and not so hyped about mud flaps on my car. I might have changed my mind! Check out my review and full install video!
Good points. In the past I've used a smart battery tender on the installed battery. I heard it is better for the battery and you don't lose electronic memory from computers in the car. I still haven't decided what to do about tires, but have found 1/2" foam adhered to plywood pieces that would...
Thanks! The tux mats (which came with my used subaru) have unbelievable coverage; just a little harder to get out to wash with the velcro and tabs etc. compared to Weathertech. Sure post a picture of the R sillplates. I had someone comment on my channel that they thought they were a little...
Hi all. I just posted a review of the Type R high walled rug mats and back cargo tray (things I was required to purchase to get my car) I also consider some of the other OEM pieces available and throw in a dad joke just for good measure.
What are you favourite accessories? What sucks?
It's not the car, it's the tires. (and history of cracking)Michelin actually has a statement that nothing to be done to them (including adding air etc) at past -7c. I live where -40c can happen in winter. $540 a piece plus installation. Every other car I've owned and stored, I've simply rolled...
I am part of the Wpg. cruise FB group. One person with same tires said (which is interesting)
"Pump the tires up to 50psi and place some interlocking mats underneath. Just drive on. The tires will sink in and leave the thread pattern indented. I have ps4s also but do it for all my cars."...
Home. My dad was a contractor and we built our current house with a double deep part where I had planned on having a storage area for a car; just took more years than I expected to get an R! From the front of the house it looks like a two car garage, but one side is twice as deep. only get to...
Got discussion going Sunday night cruise group in Winnipeg; guy suggested this :
Pump the tires up to 50psi and place some interlocking mats underneath. Just drive on. The tires will sink in and leave the thread pattern indented.
I have ps4s also but do it for all my cars.
me too. Cant buy the cheap ones, as they are too narrow for our tire width. looks to be almost 9" of contact. I think I will also pump the tires up to 45 or so. Should have thought about this sooner and looked for used on ebay or something. nows the wrong time of year to find a deal!
