Alright ....

Update time

Took some detailed pictures and measurements so for those of you that want to do a little basic math.... you might be able to tell which filter has more surface area between the three of these filters:hmm:
Now I have put all of these filters through 2+ tanks of gas for driving impressions, which I will break down into 3 areas of ranking's ( IMO of course  ) Price, Sound/ Induction noise, MPG ... and performance... well maybe not the last area since that's not something my butt dyno can accurately assess :drive:

Filter Break down
MPG average ( 2+ tanks of gas 60/40 split driving OEM filter 27.1MPG )
K&N : 29.4 mpg ⭐⭐⭐
PRL : 28.1 mpg ⭐
Sprint/Spoon : 29.2 mpg⭐⭐

Price ( retail but can be found cheaper )
K&N : $65.00⭐⭐
PRL : $59.99⭐⭐⭐
Sprint : $125.99⭐
Spoon : $265.00?

Sound/ Induction Noise ( the shit we all like to hear )
K&N : Quite auditable over the factory filter⭐⭐
PRL : Slightly quieter than the K&N filter⭐
Sprint/Spoon : Much louder than the factory filter and slightly louder than the K&N⭐⭐⭐

Overall you really can't go wrong with any of these drop in filters slight differences between them all and it pretty much comes down to personal preference on which one you want and what you are looking for whether it be value, brand, performance, price or sound:thumbsup:

Hope this will help some of you if you are looking for drop in filters :patriot:

Is it worth it to go Sprint over K&N for some extra sound?

For me personally.. yes and also for the added factor that the Sprint/Spoon filter doesn't require any Oil to be added to the filter after cleaning.:coffee:

It appears that the K&N has roughly twice as much filtering surface area as the other filters. I say this because of the higher number of pleats in the filter media. I think this is a very important difference and an advantage, as it should equate to much better filtration performance…assuming the filter material is pretty much the same across all 3 filters.?‍?

@JDM_DOHC_SiR , thanks for your work on this. Blue = PRL, Pink = K&N , and Orange = Sprint. Do I have that right?

You are welcome:thumbsup:

and yes those colors are correct for the filters.
Thank you sir! I also noticed there are three different Sprint filters for the FL5 Type R. Based on the photos, it appears you tested P1177S.

Just a heads up, all US Sprint Filter dealers/distributors are out of stock on air filters for the FL5. The next shipment is set to arrive in 30-45 days so if you're remotely interested, I suggest placing your order.
