I wanted Boost Blue, my last few cars have been that shade of blue. I ended up with a Crystal Black Pearl. The color just doesn’t get to really show the curves. I have considered getting it wrapped a shade of a light metallic blue.

I’m slowly warming up to the color, the dealer I was supposed to get the BB from tried to jump the shark on ADM and the logistics issues with east coast dealers didn’t help.

I’m grateful to have the car but these are first world problems. If a BB comes up for sale at a decent price, I’d jump at it.
That makes sense. While I'd rather have a CTR in Crystal Black Pearl than no CTR, I agree on the color. Black hides the lines and curves on this car and therefore would be my last choice. Hopefully you're able to get out of it and into what you really want. The upside is CBP is rare and seems to be made in much smaller numbers than the other colors.

I paid 10k over msrp for mine and was able to get the color I wanted. I locked it in before the dealer even knew what color they were receiving. I did this because I knew I had to have it. I did not mind spending that kind of money on it because honestly I believe it’s worth it I definitely don’t regret it. It does everything I want a car to do. I never bought the 10th gen typeR because I was 38 when it came out in the states and the looks pushed me away. But this one looks more like me. It’s got room for anything I do on a daily basis and all the performance I want. And it is badass looking. So far I get compliments all the time. She is pretty

Came from a 2020 civic si. Paid 8k over and no regrets. This car has everything that my old car didn’t.
The civic si simply lacked power unless it was in boost. The rev hang was god awful and was almost impossible to heel toe. The car also lacked a good sound system and wow factor. Lay people would just think of it as another civic.
I do miss the heated seats and my beloved power sunroof.
I had some hesitancies since it’s the first year of a new generation but the engines are almost identical and the 10th gen type r’s are reliable so far. The 10th gen was too gaudy for me so the 11th gen styling is perfect.
I was in the market to buy a 2021 cpo 10th gen type r but they were going for 40k before title and taxes with ~15k miles. That’s how I justified the mark up.

I just went to the garage to grab another beer and see her sitting in there. I never get tired of looking at her. Honda hit the nail on the head on this one. I don’t know how many people know it but Top Gear voted it car of the year. I agree

1100 miles on mine and loving every bit of it. The handling, shifter and usability of this CTR is just awesome. One big turndown for me was the exhaust noise but that got half fixed with the recently installed down pipe and front pipe. The only other “issue” I have with is is the power and that hopefully can be fixed soon once engine tuning comes out. Take in consideration that I come from a 605whp 2021 Supra so I expected that.

I feel like the FL5 fixes a lot of the issues I had with my 10th gen Si. The sounds system is terrible in my FC3, it just always feels underpowered, even with a tune, for the chassis. Heel-Toe is impossible in it as well. However with the EGP it does have some wow factor. I get compliments on it all the time. As someone in their late 30s the FK8 was a bit much for me. I almost bought a 21 LE but decided to wait for the FL5. Course I'm still waiting for my car that is two months late arriving so that has kind of ruined my buying experience.

I’m with you on that buddy. I was in my late 30’s when the FK8 was available but couldn’t do it because of the looks. But this FL5 is exactly what I wanted. Don’t let the wait bother you. Trust me it is worth it. I waited for a little over a month for mine. But as soon as I drove off in it I couldn’t stop smiling lol

Any other new owners in the last couple of weeks want to give their feedback? All the journalists that bought their cars seem to love them. Looking forward to the SG video.

Maybe you’re all just too busy driving them to post on here anymore. :)

For me it’s either CW or no CTR for me. I had a poster a CW ITR in my dorm back in 98. Something I always lusted for but too young to afford

Ha funny you say that. I'm about the same age of you and I had the '97 brochure on my wall. I wish I had the $25k back then to make the purchase. I never liked white cars, however I really want CW because of my first love...

I don't have too much feedback since I'm still doing my break-in miles but I'll add some to the discussion. To start, the roads in my area are pretty decent year round with occasional or unpredictable snow but it usually isn't much and I plan to have a second set of wheels/winter tires anyways.

My previous car was a wrx that was lowered 3 inches on coilovers and even then, the ride was tolerable but still fun. After getting into the Type R, +R honestly feels great compared to that ?. Comfort mode feels like a normal car to me, which the family will surely appreciate.

I'm not going to type a book about the things I like so I will just point out what I'm not too fond of...
- The glove box is tiny. You can probably only fit the owners manual and your registration and that's it. I usually like to keep a small first aid pouch in there but I can just toss that in the arm rest or hatch.
- (Skill issue) All the tech seems a bit overkill for me personally. Coming from a dated subaru, I'm totally fine daily driving with minimal tech/creature comforts. Having said that, it takes but a few minutes to turn off a lot of the visual noise on the gauge cluster and then its fine.
- The oem floormats feel paper thin. Not that I would dare run those red mats daily but still. I had front/rear tuxmats waiting for when the car got here.
- I wish there was a dedicated tow hook spot on the front bumper for a license plate kit. As of now, I am using the slybrackets kit which seems OK but I am just worried about the integrity of the flexible grill mesh. We will see how it holds up long term to wind pushing on the plate and flexing the grill.

And that's pretty much it. Overall, the car is fantastic and honestly feels like a gem in my garage, especially in championship white. Can't wait to really push it after break in

Maybe it was the color red. You know how some cars look better in person? This car looks exactly like in the pics.
Interesting. I thought the car looks like traffic in pictures. But in person not at all. Gave me Cayman GT4 vibes. By that what I mean is the difference between a regular Cayman and GT4. Cayman looks meh, standard sports car and then GT4 is like wow this is something else.

I think Honda played the aggressive look of the FL5 really well. It's mature in a good way. And I know it stands out because I was cross shopping. I showed my wife the Elantra N, Golf R and she went, wait aren't those just regular cars? I thought you wanted a sports car. With the Type R, it was a different story. She spotted the FL5 before we arrived at the parking lot and I didn't even point it out!

Boostlag gets flamed so hard for literally any opinion. It’s kinda lame, and also funny cuz it’s always the hot takes on the sore spots the first batch owners will always have (even tho they will never say it) with that being said. I agree. I have drove to see every color in person so make sure I still want CBP. The car looks identical in pics as it does in person. It’s no wider/different. Beautiful car, but I don’t get the better in person narrative. Also yes the seats are dope, but am I the only one that thinks the FK8 seats sat lower? Like I feel that in my normal driving position (I’m short 5’8”) that at the highest setting the steering wheel is sitting directly on top of my thighs?
I mean mate, you have to use some sense here. Its a Type R forum lol. Most of us are here because we love this platform and want to talk with other like minded people. There are certainly a lot of Honda loyalists here too. Now if you come to the forum and almost every post is a knock on the R, what do you expect, people to cheer you lol?

I'm on other forums as well. Supra, Z, GRC. There's always people who talk negative continuously and end up getting roasted. I don't know, maybe understand the audience? i.e. on the Supra forum all the "its just a BMW" people are no longer there. Interesting right?
