Purchase Price: $43,990

Title License: $341

Doc Fee: $324

Taxes: $3104

Out The Door: $47,759

Plus:

$2500 on Accessories (Wing, Trunk Mat, extended Mats)

This is just a note to everyone. This winds up being very expensive, even at MSRP. To put it in perspective when I bought a used 2008 Lotus Exige S in 2010 with 6k miles, that car was less than this at $43k.

This is still a great car, but its a Civic. Be smart.
TBH the value proposition is completely gone with this generation.
He did say in his review it's only worth MSRP and nothing more. That's also easy to say if you have premium access to being able to only pay MSRP IMO. Not knocking his opinion because I agree, MSRP is a standard for what someone's interpretation for the price is, this someone being the someone who built the car. But let's be real, there is more to this type of car than parts, labor to build it, and shipping. There's exclusivity and rarity along with history. The car is obviously worth more than MSRP given the average going rate of these falls somewhere between 10-20k over MSRP.

If your opinion is the car itself regarding what it took to build the car and how it performs is what represents that value, then yes, 44k. If you're going to start factoring in everything else, the price is higher and understandably so as much as some people may not like it. I think anyone would like to pay as little as possible.

Would be awesome if SG did a comparison with the Elantra N. How it competes as a value proposition. I think it was Matt Farah that said the FL5 had better controls but the N was just more fun.

I had to share this funny conversation that I had with the sales manager at one of my local dealers on Saturday:

Me: Hi, I was just checking in to see if you were able to budge yet on the CTR ADM?

Dealer: No we actually just sold it for 22k over. They are picking the car up now.

Me: 22k over? That's mind boggling.

Dealer: Not really. They financed for 84 months to spread out the cost

So people are not only paying crazy ADMs, but also financing at extended terms for god knows what rate? I can't wait for low mileage examples to start popping up, lol.

Didn’t ask, but I’m assuming that’s just the asking price.
I highly doubt they sell that thing for anywhere near that price. They're delusional. The other one in Denver at Schomp honda is sold and has a list of people apparently at 10k over. The one in Colorado Springs is a 10k Markup with 3k accessories first come first served.

That's unfortunate to hear - they had originally quoted me 5k in markup a few weeks ago. Glad I ended up not bothering.

This is correct, no how many we have 20k over offers we have. Just for them to ask me to pay 15k over.
Dealerships are full of shit.
Had a dealership tell me they already have an offer for 25k over but I could outbid them. So full of shit.

I get that the FL5 is better looking (in some people's opinion) but for it almost being identical to an FK8 chasis and performance wise, I do hope that people understand for 20K over an already 44K car, could get you a used FK8 with 20K for mods or a used FK8 and 20K for a daily? like thats WILD to me, youre buying an FL5 with a new Kia at MSRP on top LOL WILD TIMES

The fallacy with the initial price of entry argument is that it doesn't do anything to articulate the total cost of ownership. If the average ADM is an indicator of future values (and normally it is at least in the short term) you can pay a few grand over and still potentially drive this car for free for a couple years. That's the value proposition I am most interested in.
Leasehackr has a calculator on their website where you can also input how long you plan to own the car, and what you think resale value would be at that point. Then the calculator will show you your effective monthly cost rather than just your monthly payment.
