We should just start a running spreadsheet on peoples guesses when the Type R's will be available east of the Rockies. Winner gets to buy a car at MSRP in 2 years.

I was told by my salesman that i have a VIN but the car is still pending to be built.

Does this sound right?

I read this:

Your VIN is assigned when your vehicle is scheduled for production. Once you have a production week, contact your dealer for your VIN.Nov 22, 2020

That doesn’t appear to be the case with the Type R tho. We all got VIN’s AFTER the cars were already at the Port.

Well I’ll never get that time back lol. What a freaking waste. No help whatsoever. I’m just going to sit on my hands until the damn dealer calls me and tells me it’s here.
yup...the original girl i spoke to said to be "call the dealer or another dealer and they can let you know why it has not moved"

so i asked to speak to someone higher up so i have a case manager

guy said he would reach back out to me on this...hoping i have some type of an answer on why our cars have literally been sitting there and not moving

I knew something was fishy because I had to use https://stevenmatchett.github.io/fl5-civic-type-r-finder/ to find out that my car has a VIN and was in transit.

I then told him the VIN and he was surprised and told me that indeed was my VIN.

I don't know what to believe now
Believe that most dealerships don’t know. I learned the last 6 months that hearing stuff from here and FB groups has been more accurate than what dealerships have told me. I was able to secure mine with the VIN provided by the guys that are in this forum that work for Honda dealerships. The dealership I worked with didn’t know it was incoming to them until I gave it to them.

After seeing all these stories about dealers I'm glad mine has been good to me. They didn't demand any crazy accessories, gave me the VIN as soon as it was "in transit" and has let me know when the eta has been updated. Can't really get mad at them for the cars sitting in the port but the communication has been great compared to a lot stuff I'm reading here

There a very few Honda enthusiasts working for Honda dealerships unfortunately. So when you find one appreciate them
