if you want flex and a world first get the HKS GT 4950 Ball Bearing turbo based off the G25-660 with a 0.72 a/r rear exhaust housing on a Rampage Fab G series install kit, The Eventuri intake over turbo pipe into the Eventuri airbox will fit the G series 3” compressor cover inlet, just use a silicon reducer 2.5” to 3” silicon straight adaptor thus retaining the Eventuri airbox. This turbo has arguably better transient boost response than a RV660 with the 0.81 a/r rear exhaust housing because of the smaller 0.72a/r rear.

I ran a customized Full Race modified Garrett GTX3076R on my previous 8th Gen Civic build (K20Z3 motor sleeved by ERL going from 2.0L to 2.2L with a lot of other costly Endyn upgrades). The turbo had the spool/responsiveness of a GT30R and top end of a GT35R. I also loved the 9k redline but driving on the street in lower gears sucked even using 200TW tires.

For the FL5, the MHI Stage 2 sounds like the best value to consider before upgrading engine internals.

I personally think for a 'street car' a 58mm inducer is to big and a mismatch on the k20c1 with either the 0.61 or 0.83 a/r turbine housing, might as well stick to a MHI upgrade or RV6-660 as recommended by most. The sweet spot for a stock K20c1 is 54mm with a set of cams and ported head.

I was looking up the hks turbo yesterday and it seems to be only offered in external waste gated. I'm just waiting for a response from an hks rep.

Either ask them to exclude the exhaust housing or just swap out their v-band external watergate exhaust housing for an internally gated housing later on as they might sell it as a take it or leave it package.
