I'd consider it if/when they adjust the brackets for USDM crash bar. I think that's still an issue on the initial kits.

Conti ECS vs. PS4S? In 275/35/18 for street summer driving (maybe very wet track day). Get the cheaper Conti right? RIGHT?

Can you tell if instructions changed for USDM or if you'll just fab brackets? I dont think the wagner would be an issue since I have what I hope is a triple pass radiator. Hope it's real lol.

I’ve driven cars with both during my time as a tech at an Audi dealer. It’s been a little while but both are very good.

The Contis seem to have a slightly softer sidewall and the internet seems to agree. I’d honestly go with what’s cheaper if it’s for a street set.

I saw some of this when it was posted. My opinion on the matter is Jason Lewis is a cool guy and has done a lot for development of cooling solutions for the FK8. He’s documented a lot of this and has been a valuable asset to the community.

It seems the manufacturer he’s chose to work with has a history of making counterfeit parts, but it seems clear the cooling plate and triple pass radiator are original designs.

I don’t like supporting creators of counterfeit products, but the Facebook TPR/“Aston Martin” dude seem to have a lot of drama themselves with pushing products they’re paid to do, oftentimes with little data to back up their claims.

That said, I’d like to see more data for the cooling plate and radiator with track use, but I think Jason Lewis unfortunately got his car rear ended recently, further delaying that.

I have the radiator going in and first track day toward end of April. Might not be great testing, it should hopefully be cooler weather. Nothing like the 100+ degrees and humidity in the summer here. I may still pick up the cooling plate, I can't find an alternative.

Basically all the new BMW Ms run their oil cooler there, even worst they protect it with a plastic skid plate. Its a must upgrade on that platform to get a metal one but even then it can lead to disaster. I know a couple buddies that now have a new engine because of the location of that so totally agree, terrible place for that.


As far as the wot plate, I followed that yt thread, there is nothing like it really out there, does not seem like a copy of anything. I get it people are mad at that company that makes the plate and maybe they did copy stuff in the past but this seems like a new product. Seems like a good product too

I remember seeing the drama unfold literally hours after I purchased the plate and the Radiator. It was a coincidence because I dont really check Facebook. Didn't make me feel well about the purchase I just made LOL. Im not part of the Facebook scene so it just seemed like people being petty.

Basically you can buy the cooling tray directly for $300 but you'll probably end up paying for shipping, idk. The $350 is a $50 upcharge and honestly that maybe done just to cover for shipping because its goingto the owner of WOT andthis is being resent out(I didn't pay for shipping for mine) so he is probably only getting maybe $5-$10. Its not like he is making bank from these.

My assumption is that he probably naturally stumbled upon the guy in China since that person has a history of scamming people.

Tbh I really dont care as long as the products work I dont care where its made, I just want functional parts. I have done 2 track days with the cooling plate and all of the screws have held in well and weren't loose at all like the stock panel was. Only thing I'd say is that the 8ftlbs torque in the installation instructions is too much and it should be 4 or 5 ftlbs. I stripped one of the screws trying to do 8ftlbs. I dont have any meaningful before and after data because of the temperature varation. I did notice my oil temp peak was 255F with the plate vs 265F without it.

I have the radiator on order too and that should work in theory, espically since the ECT1 sensor is the sensor that is the exit temperature of hot coolant from the head. My only worry is fitment with my intake lol.

At least the team behind WOT is working on cooling solutions for the FL5 and providing data with tests. The tests and data could be fabricated but you can say that about any aftermarket company. Im excited to see how the ducted oil cooler will come out. All the other oil cooler setups for the car have been a huge miss imo. The HKS cooler uses brake ducting which is good for the cooler but just creating another problem. The HEL oil cooler is bad because it doesn't have the proper ducting to actually cool the oil. Theres another design that works by cooling the transmission which in turn cools the oil because of the flow of the coolant lines.

Most of the aftermarket parts and branded products come from China anyways and are just slapped with a US company's logo. So the whole China fear mongering thing is just old skepticism. Personally I wish more products were actually made in the USA, not just assembled in the USA but thats a discussion for another day.

@Rhorn I'll let you know what I find on the install with the PRL HVI. I don't like the idea of trimming the fan shroud, but I will if I have to.
