Steering wheel cracking/splitting

I think I replied to your Reddit thread where you assured me you weren't hitting it because of your size. Lol. If you're shorter your seat is even closer to the steering wheel making it harder to get in without hitting it!

It's probably the little pointed buttons on the pockets of your jeans. That's what hits on mine and I try to be careful not to do it when getting in. On my brand new car I noticed it and thought it might have been the transport guy. It was most likely me all along but thankfully I noticed pretty early and have avoided anymore damage.

Yeh. Didn’t think it was me until I was consciously paying attention while getting in and out when I went to workout.. Not happy considering it’s just fabric that was touching. I don’t tuck my shirts in so it’s hard to see how buttons on jeans are making contact. I would still expect more durability?‍

Marks are from my knife catching the steering wheel when getting out of the car.

Everyone drives faster with a knife. Pffft!



Also note Alcantara is not difficult to keep clean. It just must be cleaned. Big difference.

My dealer agreed it did not look normal for such new (1 month old today) car so they ordered me a new one. No fuss. No hassle. Ill def. be more cognitive getting in and out to make sure nothing rubs but they agreed everyday pants should't cause this to happen. They wrote it up as Leather Defect on the service order.

@optronix Yeah, that’s the “difficulty” with the Alcantara wheel. I’m certain it is durable and feels great, but keeping it clean might be more of a chore than many want to deal with…especially those of us who tend to have sweaty hands or those who of us who eat fried chicken while on the track.?

The euro cars have an alcantara steering wheel, after two weeks mine looks fine but I will keep a close eye on it as I do touch it when getting in.
