Noises from the rear after RV6 components installed.

I have the RV6 rear sway bar myself not including the other goodies for the rear end besides Swift lowering springs and PRL rear strut bar. I made the mistake of not pre loading my suspension when tightening everything down and was having clunking myself. I unbolted and reinstalled everything but before everything was tight. I placed two jacks on both lower control arms and loaded the suspension evenly and tighten/torqued everything down. Since then the clunking has gone away

Thanks for confirming it can be less noisy. I may just redo my install ?

For sure! I posted on a Facebook group about it and quickly I was getting asked if I pre loaded the suspension before tightening. It made the difference in my case

Wow, this is interesting, so far, I've only reinstall the RV6 rear sway bar while the suspension is fully loaded, and unfortunately this alone does not fix the klunking noises when going over rough bumps. If weather permits, this weekend I'll try to loosen every bolts of all the parts that I've replaced, and re torque them while the suspension is fully loaded on a ramp and see if this helps with the noises and report back.

Which setting do you have the bar on? I wonder if that is part of the issue? It's hard to imagine though that with the RV6 lower control arms there would be clunking. Something doesn't sound right.

If you haven't seen it. AHC Garage made probably the most in depth video on a complete rear suspension upgrade on a DE5 which is exactly the same as the FL5. Couldn't imagine it can get any better than this.

Currently the RV6 swaybar are set in the middle hole on both side. I have removed the swaybar all the way to reinstall them and torqued all the bolts while the suspension is fully loaded on a ramp but it didn't really improve much...

I am completely unsure which part exactly is making the noise... I cant replicate the sound while the car parked, the coilover i have is pretty stiff so even having a 180lbs guy standing on the edge of the trunk trying to rock the car, my brother and I cant replicate the clunking noise as the suspension barely articulate. During the re-install of the swaybar I've made sure to check for any contact damages but there are none that I could find.
My observation while driving, you can hear the noise mostly when you hit a quick bump that pushes the rear suspension up really fast. Any slower bumps usually does not make any noises even when it sure feels like the suspension would articulate quite a bit.

I really need to get someone riding on the rear seat and record the noise to post here as I've never had any car making these kind of noises in the past, and I've had multiple car with much more extensive suspension mods that the CTR. The noises is making me a bit uncomfortable driving the car since it create this impression that something is loose back there.

I've watched that video and many others about RV6 install and for the most part I think we did the install exactly the same way as what showed in the video, except we have a coilover spring and spring perch without any rubber so its metal to metal contact.

I didnt expect the coilover spring perch and the A lca to make any noises because even with the rear suspension fully drooped when the car is on jack stands, there are quite abit of tension on the spring (compressed due to shorter shocks length). However I still plan to use some kind of rubber isolator to put it below the spring perch so there is no metal to metal contact.

Load the suspension again safely of course. With a pry bar start putting pressure on different joints and suspension components and see if you can isolate or pinpoint lose, moving or "clunking" parts. I've solved another clunking issue in the past by doing this. Or else if you haven't done so. Getting an alignment done and make sure it's dialed in straight to begin with and maybe bring the attention up to another set of eyes

Finally pulled my FL5 out of winter storage today. Have full rear RV6 sway bar with end links, lower control arms, and Toe bar with Spherical bushings. No clunks good feel in the rear. Still breaking the car in so have not pushed it too hard yet

Ultimately, I decided to remove the rear interior, except for the rear seat bottom, in order to locate the source of the noise. Although it remains challenging to pinpoint the exact origin of the sound, with the sound dampening material removed, I can ascertain that the noise seems to emanate from the top shock mount.

I opted to remove the rear coilover, retighten the clevis mount, and then swap the rear coilover from left to right in order to determine if the noise would shift from one side to the other. After tightening all components to the specified torque, I found that the noise has been eliminated.

The coilover clevis mount likely became loose somehow. After fixing it, I now only hear a slow-speed clack from the solid top mount and spherical bearings which are expected.

Hurray, so glad the issue is now resolved.

Good to hear you discovered your issue. I know when I did my first drive this thread was in the back of my mind to listen for any sounds. Was very particular to detail when installing everything and torque specs given by RV6. Have put 500 miles on the car now in the last 3 days. Feels good.

After installing the RV6 rear end, I immediately noticed an unusual noise, indicating that something was amiss. Having owned several vehicles with similar setups, this level of noise issue was unprecedented for me. Over the past few weeks, my dissatisfaction with the FL5 has grown to the point where I have considered reverting it to its original state and possibly trading it in for another vehicle, such as an M4.

thanks... since I am close to finish with the suspensions, now I can move on to the pile of parts that I got for under the hood hehehe. Hoping to minimize the overheating issues at the track.

Still need to get coil overs and a few other suspension parts but got most of the suspension covered. Need to finish brake setup. Then will start on power and aero
