I sure hope my grandchildren stay far away from Civic forums. They have to be the worst place on the internet. Nothing could be worse for them than a site like this.

my apologies to @Y82OneTwoSix
I'll will try to do the right thing on these forums

we all go out and eat from time to time, and some of us may be a more generous than others.
some of us may tip a bit more than others, but at no time should some one be mad at others for tipping more. you don't have to tip more if you don't want, but don't get mad at others for tipping more. these people will tend to hide behind "principle"...and blame others for not show restraint.

I understand tipping and adm are two different things, but the thought process behind it are roughly the same (imo)...one would tip more if they "appreciate" more, while some may pay more because they may like/love more...

as for CTR market saturation, and some of you guys think FL5 will reach a level saturation, where msrp is relatedly had, then you are wayyyy to optimistic for a conservative person (waiting on msrp).

That doesn't seem to have solved the problem in Canada. Dealerships up there are just driving the car around for a few miles, then selling it as "used" for $20k above MSRP or whatever.

The only real solution is to allow the consumer to order directly from the manufacturer.
Now I am disillusioned about our neighbor to the north, thought you were the model for reigning in excessive dealer markups. Maybe that loophole can be closed.
ADM has been around for a long time, just not as ferocious as now. I remember the Pontiac Fiero had about $ 5K of ADM. But what we have now is Twilight Zone material.

I loathe dealer markups and have never paid above MSRP in the past. With that said, I still believe in the free market and wouldn't want to regulate how we buy and sell cars. And as some of you have eluded to, there's really only 2 solutions to this mark up issue:

1) Lower Demand
or
2) Increase Supply

I don't think the demand for these is diminishing anytime soon. And you can't make people not want this car or tell them not to buy it. If they want it, it's their prerogative to take it up the a$$ to buy one. The more feasible solution would be for Honda to produce so many of these to increase supply, such that dealers would need to barter with their customers to earn their business. Would Honda ever do this? Probably not. I think the CTR will always be a rare car and will demand a premium.
