I just installed a used remus exhaust on the fl5 that integrates the factory valve actuator using an extension wiring harness. Based on the instructions it didn't require any resetting on the factory valve controller.
Now this is what is happening and im clueless, the exhaust valve is not technically changing positions on the driving mode. It seems like after every start and off cycle on the car the valve will change position. So the valve is not stuck but doesnt change on demand upon different driving modes.

So for example, when I start the car if the valve goes to open then it stays open for the entire drive until I shut off the car. Then in next drive cycle the valve could be closed, and it will remain closed for the entire drive cycle.

Honestly I dont know with factory exhaust whether it worked or not because the car was too quiet for me to notice any difference even at different modes.

I tried looking online where some folks had mentioned to plug in the factory valve before installing on the exhaust and it did reset but the issue still persists.
I have also tried disconnecting the battery for 10mins and reconnecting and still the behavior persists.

I am thinking about going milltek valve controller if i camnot figure this out, so i can actually close or open on demand.

Does anyone have any clue why this could be? Or what i should like into?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I’m not sure I understand your problem. The valve actuates based on driving mode and throttle position. You wouldn’t notice this at startup nor at idle. Iirc the driving mode doesn’t have a major effect on when the valve actuates. I think it happens a little later in Comfort, vs Sport and +R, but not much later.

I edited the post but here is a sample behavior

So it's not a stuck valve but doesnt follow the driving mode or throttle position

Oh I see. That’s weird. Sorry I have no answers for this.

Have you tried pulling the fuse and cycling the car on and off then replacing the fuse and doing it again to see if it refreshes the system?

Yes I have! When pulling the fuse it goes into open mode, and when putting fuse back it closes. But after that the, same behavior persists. :(

Time for a valve controller then, If you have the homelink mirror then you can capture the signal from the remote and use the mirror instead of having to keep the remote around
