I imagine you have pretty hard water up in Canada. Dried, embedded, mineral buildup can be really hard to remove. That’s what some of the spots look like to me. It’s hard to tell without seeing it in person. Did you wash your car regularly through the winter? Gotta wash that road salt and crap off constantly. Take your car to a detailer and get their professional opinion on what’s going on with your paint including that trim piece that has “wax” on it. Once you know what’s going on, you may be able to use that info to “force” your dealership to make it right. You really can’t do anything until you know what the problem is. Is it bad paint? A bad pre-delivery detail job? Is it mineral buildup? No one knows.
Regarding the HPD kit, your dealer should fix that, especially while the car is under full warranty. Accessories, installed at the time the car was bought, carry the same full warranty as the rest of the car including defects and workmanship issues. Look that stuff up in your manual to be sure. If you must, take your car to another Honda dealership and explain how bad your local dealership has been.
Thanks, I'll look at that product for the trim piece but I didn't mention any issue with the accessories/HPD kit. That is literally the lower panel of the door/side skirt before the additional HPD piece which sits much lower. That panel is not flush and you can see the exposed wiring on one side. The white dry wax can be removed. I had a detailer recommended by a friend work on my ex-STI. Left those same white stains alllll along the crevices. And the sunroof rubber turned ashy white.
I used Chemical Guy’s “TRIM CLEAN WAX AND OIL REMOVER”. Try that or find a similar product.
The accessories.. their service department should deal with it. The paint issue, go see the new car sales manager. Your salesman will dodge you.
Even better reason for Honda Service department to take care of it for you. Thanks, I did wash my car regularly in the winter - shell touchless car wash every week or so. I've had multiple black paint cars and they've never looked like this, especially not one under a year old.I imagine you have pretty hard water up in Canada. Thanks. I'll also speak to HC again about this - I don't trust this dealer to make this right given the excuses/run around I've gotten already but will look further into it. Terrible experience so far, not what I expected for a new car...Even better reason for Honda Service department to take care of it for you. You got this bro
Thanks for your kind words and advice. Will reach out to the General Manager and go from there.Yeah, just try to stay patient, though I know the frustrating feelings you’re wrestling with. With stuff like this it’s really best to talk face to face with someone…maybe even talk to the manager if you feel you need to escalate it. Phone calls and emails, unfortunately, are much easier to be lost and/or forgotten in the busy shuffle. Not saying this is an excuse, but it most definitely happens. When you’re there, with the car, in person, they cannot ignore you nor brush the problem off.
