I'm #2 in what should be a decent sized dealer in Montreal. I know I was entered on Friday after dealer called me, I see an additional 500$ charge, but no refund yet on initial deposit. I have no additional info, no VIN, no color, no allocation total, no delivery estimate.

As for Honda Canada they basically told me that they don't like seeing the markups but being that they're independent dealerships they can't force their hand on how to run their business.
Pulling the allocations from the dealer and giving to another more honest dealer could be something they can do. PR blah blah blah, they don't care...

Update for those who managed to get an allocation and charged the $500. I was chatting with another dealer who offered a significantly better price and because I have an order in with my original dealer, they can't place the order for me. So if you have a 1st spot but haven't agreed to pricing yet because of whatever reason, you can't work with another dealer until you withdraw your order and position officially. This has also been clarified with my call with Honda Canada and Honda Canada won't/can't do anything. No allocation switching, etc..

In order words, personally I'm either forced to buy the car at 70k or withdraw my allocation completely and start back at the bottom of the list with every other dealer. I'm beyond livid.

Wow, $5k deposit is Porsche deposit money. I would rather put that money towards the last ICE Cayman GTS. I only put $500 down with my dealership on the same week the 2022 Honda Civic released in June 2021. Looking at the exterior and interior sold me on what could be an amazing Type R. I got in line early as it should be.

For me, I was contacted last month saying that I will be getting a car. Today, I was contacted saying that my $500 dealership deposit will be refunded but a new $500 will be charged to go to Honda Canada instead. No bill of sale yet and no ETA, but I am expecting to get a 2023 car. Hoping for my colour choice in Championship White. Exciting times!
Congrats! May I ask which dealership?

Just spoke with another dealer where I was supposed to be 7th when I made my deposit. After seeing the comments here, I can confirm the list means nothing lol. I’m probably the 9th or 10th order on the gsm’s table lol. Probably thrown out or used to wipe his ass or something.

The dealer is expected to get 6 cars during the production run. They will get their first car in April 2023 and second car in dec 2023. They have submitted their orders as of yesterday and all 6 have been allocated. The sales guy asked whether I’ll want to stay put or just pull out but since my pull out game is weak right now, I’m inclined to just stay in line, the deposit is also quite small.

Hopefully one of you are of the 6 orders being allocated. I was also told that Honda employees are barred from ordering a Type R due to the high chance of them flipping it. Not sure if this is true though. So he’s in line for s c8 instead lol.

So you'd be #1 at the other dealer with the better price? Why dont you withdraw your allocation with the dealer thats selling the car at 70k and go with the dealer with the better price?

No, I'd be number 3 and they have 2 set allocations, so they can't guarantee me an order but they reported they can submit a request via another $500 deposit.

Someone in Winnipeg just got their car... how the fuck as in delivered and picked up....

Plaque reads 352.

How are the larger dealers still struggling to figure out who is getting a car...

The guy who got it and posted on FB used to be a Finance Manager or GM for that Honda dealer up until earlier this year. So regardless of who was in that list he was going to get it first. He also owns an FK8 and an LE.
