Bought my 25 FL5 from Texas and need to have it smog checked to get it registered. Took it to a local smog check shop and it failed. It had about 150 miles. The technician there told me it's too new with only 150 miles and told me I need to put more miles in it and come back. Didn't make sense to me, but since I already paid $50, I drove it for another 150 miles. Brought it back today and it still fail. The guy said I need to drive it a little more. I had my other cars, Civic and MDX done smog check there so I don't think the guy is trying anything funny.

Does that make sense? Any comment? I could take it to the local Honda dealer, but that is going to cost me $150...

Passing Smog Check has little to do with miles driven. it's most likely at least one the "I/M Readiness Monitors" is not ready.

Go to any local Auto Parts Store and get a basic OBD2 Code Reader, if you want one fast.

Key-On, Engine-Off. Plug in the code reader. If all the "Monitors" are Ready and no Code, just go back to the same guy.

Why would taking it to Honda cost you money? You're probably on your second tank of gas so I think you're covered.

Some Dealers can do Smog Check because they have at least one Tech who can do Smog Check and have the equipment. However, it's not free and Dealer Labor cost more than a Smog Shop around the corner.

I'm saying take it to Honda and tell them your new car has failed smog tests twice since you bought it. Have them diagnose and fix the issue whatever it may be. That will not cost any money.

Exactly this. There has to be an issue with the emissions system, as I believe that all FL5s sold in the US are 50 state legal, correct?
