Someone help me here… Is this the “embargo” keeping cars at the port?
Media embargo. No reviews or you have to withhold certain specifics or thoughts until the manufacturer says you can discuss it. You are kept honest by the hope to continue to do reviews. Important in this YouTube review world. This same situation applies on electronics like cell phone reviews and the like.

The cars at the port are there because that is where Honda imports them from Japan.

I don't know what Honda is waiting for but this isn't abnormal for a manufacturer. Cars often have on sale dates.

I hope this answers your question.

The embargo itself doesn't keep cars at the port. Honda is stockpiling cars so that they can be distributed to their respective dealerships at the same time, reducing the likelihood of one dealership having an advantage over another. Normally when the embargo is lifted we will know when the cars will actually leave the port, we should also know the MSRP etc.

I have always wondered, what do they do with all these media cars? I sure as hell wouldn't be buying one of them :p
A majority of the cars for media drives are built as part of the Model Year buildout phase where they verify the production process makes the cars to spec. A majority of these are built to be crushed at the end of the demo phase. A handful of them will be given as company vehicles to members of management, some may end up as SEMA cars, with the tail end of media cars being sold as used company fleet vehicles. A previous automaker that I worked for would sell the ones that could be sold to employees at steep discounts.

thanks @tuhroo ! I almost called my dealer, whom I bothered 2 days ago lol
I’m literally not calling my dealer ever again. They can call me when they have something to tell me and if they don’t then they were never going to sell me the car in the first place. I think I’ve annoyed the Fak out of them already.

think we'll be waiting a few more weeks for Throttlehouse and Savage. Those videos take weeks to film and edit.
I don’t think so. They will drop those videos at exactly 9:00 am for clicks. This car is high anticipated amongst journalists as well as enthusiasts. They won’t miss out on the hype.

most likely but its not going to be anything like their track series more like the extra channel with impressions.

Anyone in Southeastern Virginia been able to contact a dealer? So far, I've just gotten "No information yet, just contact us" (or similar) over the phone. That might not be a bad thing; it could mean they aren't bothering with a waitlist. However, it could be bad in that you have to be quick once sales information drops.

I told my dealer I don’t want to know the color unless it’s a choice, want to experience the excitement of arriving at the dealer without knowing. There isn’t a bad color IMO.

I think I’m in the minority, I love the SGP

I'm in DC, I'll be hitting them up after the embargo. Most likely they'll know the allocations by then.

Black just looks so good

My only complaint against black is that the plastics are also gloss black, so it looks a bit like a cheap $500 paint job where they paint over everything (at least in pictures). If a video of a black FL5 drops somewhere, that may change my mind. Hopefully, it's just just the way they show up in pictures.
