I love the Type R and my 2020 was a great car. I am NOT willing to pay over MSRP, especially at 50K.

At that point I'm in the same price point of C63 AMG, Lexus RC F, M3/M4 etc.

At the 40K or whatever MSRP is I'm sold, above that I'm tapping out. I may anyway if Honda doesn't give us some info on it soon. I need to know if I can get a car is summer/fall or if it will be 2023.
So the tea leaves are that you are not getting one. A new M3 is closer to $80k+ btw. Great cars you mention but all prices more than $50k. To each their own though. As of now, my type r with full ppf and ceramic coating is going to be around $55k after tax and fees and am stoked.

I was able to put in some work and get my 2020 for MSRP, maybe able to do it again.

55K, damn. Yeah, I'll be tapping out if they get that high.
The ppf and coating are about $8k of personal add ons. So $47k ish after tax without that stuff. I have a feeling for this iteration it will be more than worth it.

I think that’s where the disconnect is… people saying “well, with a markup, it’s a $45-50k car, which approaches another sports car”…

But guess what? - That other car will also have a markup! - Virtually any decent sports car will today. Good luck getting an M3 under $80k or any equivalent BMW without a markup.

I hear this everyday. People tell me they sold their home at a huge premium. But they have to pay just as much (or more) for another home, unless they’re willing to downgrade.

Not all dealers are charging a markup. Friend of mine wanted a loaded GTI, took us 30 minutes of calling all dealers within 12 hours of his place and I found one that was MSRP, no other BS.

Also, if I do not get this with out the markup I may look at the Type S depending on specs. If not that then I will go used as 50K can put me in a VERY nice sports car.

I have actually already been looking at used, I'm going to drive a Lexus RC F (470HP Coupe) this weekend. Hell, I've even seen decent C7 Z06's in the 50's. Stock they are 650 HP, 650TQ and run a mid 10 second quarter mile.

I am a die hard hand guy, have been my whole life but and my current daily is still a Honda. But at some point there has to be a cut off of what I am willing to pay for a Civic.

I am really digging the Lexus, fast and you get the Toyota reliabity.

Yeah, makes sense - this comes down to what the ctr provides in terms of driving experience not being as highly valued by you as overall speed or rwd and probably other things. Most folks that get a ctr do so for the gt4 like gear box, second to none fwd driving experience, one of a kind and pretty rare car. Different characteristics valued.

I freakin loved my 2020 and all most regret selling it but, when Honda released the new base model in Boost Blue it ruined it for me as I sought out the R in that color because it was exclusive. Add to that dealers were offering so much to buy them I let it go and figured I'd get a new gen. Probably the best daily I have owned.

I've been waiting a while on some info and I am not sure the R will even be available this year at this point. Couple that with lots of dealers starting at 5K markup and some dealers now already stating over 10K, it's giving me a bad taste and has me looking else where. Which sucks as I usually stay true to Honda.

Im going to try and pick up a '23 CTR later this year... but if it's to crazy I'll probably try and snag a used CTR with around 20k miles and call it a day... Hopefully there will be an influx of used CTR since some will try and upgrade
