Everyone needs to be contacting Honda Corporate if this happens. This is BS and could actually drive loyal customers away from the brand. Believe me, Corporate will start to care if they get enough complaints.

I think that is the case for a lot of guys. It appears this generation of Type R buyer isn't going to be your true enthusiast for the most part.
I couldn't disagree more.

Who else is buying the Type R if not for an enthusiast? 45k++++ for a Civic.

Some enthusiasts are more willing to spend more money than others. I wish everyone could get the car for MSRP but I don't think paying close to the sticker is exclusively an enthusiast move. I would go as far as to say it is most likely an enthusiast spending that money.

If we were talking Mercedes and AMG... Then yeah sure. It would likely be the most expensive version so they opted to go that route but a Civic buyer? A Civic Type R buyer?.. Eh..

They could MSRP this thing at 50k and they'd still sell all of them without a problem. I'm thinking $42.9k is reasonable in this stupid market. For me personally, I love my civic, and there is no way I'm giving up my car AND paying another $30k on top of that. It doesn't make sense. But the one thing it has going for it is that the value of the Type R won't ever fall... so there is that.

The Civic has always been a fun budget car. It is now with these crazy ADM's approaching a level a lot of average guys can't afford. 55-60K for a Civic just seems like it's pricing out a lot of people who'd actually want this car as an enthusiast.

You are not wrong...

But if we keep this in context. Everything is more expensive. I mean even I get sticker shock at new Hondas. Price increases have happened at least twice a year. I feel like the most solid value we offer is the Civic Si.

These Hondas will be more expensive once invoiced after Jan 1st. Honda has already given us info that they will be even more expensive. So I'm talking to clients who want to order a new car and explaining to them that hey... this high price is actually going to be higher come Jan 1st and I don't know what that will look like. (So please don't ask. Honda releases info when they are ready)

I have been contacted by a few dealerships wanting $20000 over and then they try to reason their price at me. Just wait or get the smaller FK8. The FK8 is already large for it's size compared to what we had in the 2000's and 90's. Larger cars and trucks are not good. Although the FL5 Type R isn't too extreme large yet.

Not all that surprised for Milpitas. They did have a blue FK8 with 23k miles sitting on the floor for a few months asking $54k sticker IIRC. They never contacted me for the new one and I've been in their system for over a year now but I did make it clear if you're charging me P-car or M money, it's just not worth it. Last time I went in a few weeks ago the floor manager did say they were expecting a 20k markup. Not too much to do though if someone's actually willing to accept those kind of terms though simply to be one of the first, never mind being seemingly pretty pumped about spending basically $75k. I'd be pretty coy about posting the price if I somehow justified it to myself. Locally seems to be San Leandro, Dublin, Milpitas and Stevens Creek are the $20k+ ADM club that I know of.

money doesn't mean the same to everyone. Someone who paid a buck for three dozen bitcoin and now has $360k worth might not balk at $70k. Or someone who got millions for being part of some startup company or high flying IPO. You see this kind of thing at the top of bubble markets, and while the markets have come down a little, the stock market doubled in 2 years, and has give up only a fraction of that so far.

Maybe so but that is not common and not really applicable.
