Actually, probably not. Which has me feeling all sorts of conflicted emotions, but I don't really want the car at that price point. I start seeing its flaws rather than its benefits.
That last line is exactly how I feel. I view this car very differently than I did yesterday.

Agreed.

Also at 50K+ you are knocking on the door of a lot of other options.
Yup, I was hoping to save a good chunk of change and get into a more practical fun car compared to the other options I had been looking at, such as the M2. With the pricing and ADM, I’m not seeing the value anymore. At this point, I’m probably just going to bow out of buying a car for a year or so and then decide what to do. I don’t need the car just yet so I’m not going to force it.

Also, I’m new to the Honda buying experience and am extremely disappointed by the lack of integrity dealers are displaying by changing their word and playing games with the lists and ADMs. Not just me but I see it’s widespread based on some of your comments. I know it’s not unique to honda but definitely more widespread than anything I’ve experienced in the past.

Yeah, this pretty much was the clincher for me that I won't pay a dime over MSRP. I can wait and pounce on a deal when it arises. This car is more of a want than need, so its not like I gotta have it, right here, right now. Really surprised Honda didn't price it right under $40k starting but I guess they had their ears to the ground and knew folks have been salivating over this car!

This, I sold my 2020 in anticipation for this car a year ago. Not having it for a year has made me realize I do not "need" this or another car, it is truly a want.

I'm honestly just ready for it to be released so I know if the crazy ADM are going to be true or not so I can either buy or finally move on to what else I have been eyeing.

It's kinda sad that as a die hard Honda guy my whole life I will be ran off by the greedy dealers.

there is always some willing to pay the mark up to be the first one in the block. With the car being so expensive as it, we'll see if its sustainable.

Yeah, I am sure the first round that hits the dealers are going to people with way more money than me and Youtubers for content. The real test will be 6 months after they have been out when everyone has seen them and the hype dies down.

Reading that person who mentioned the dealer saying they were going to charge $50k ADM now is even more insane.

This. As badly as I want this car (sold my 19 Civic Hatch 6MT 3 months ago), I’m full WFH so I don’t NEED it either. So if the price exceeds 50k, it’s just not a justifiable purchase.

With this MSRP coupled with the fact that stealerships are salivating at the prospect to mark the car up... I might have to cool my desire to have this car for a bit.
I work at a dealership that has never added any mark-up but are taking deposits for a waitlist. While the wait is long, we don’t want to take advantage of our clients. I’m happy to give more info if you’re interested!

That is good to hear and I know there are a few others out there like that and I bought my 2020 from one of them, but it's getting hard to find as most are cashing in like the rest at this point.

But that wasn’t my point. At the end I even pondered if the demographic of the average Type R owner had changed.

In the past the Si buyer and the Type R buyer were essentially the same person. They were simply willing to get a larger loan to cover the 10k gap between the Si and Type R price. Now that interest rates have increased dramatically and WILL INCREASE AGAIN before these cars actually hit dealerships coupled with the now 15k gap in price between the two cars who is the new “Average” buyer of the type r?

It may become a status good - who would hav thought.

when golf R price was jacked up 4k , they added new dampers, new ecu/driveline integration, ventilated seats, rear climate control and torque vectoring diff.

What are we getting for the price increase?
Fine. I'll play...

Improved the Turbo
aerodynamics a focus
Every panel is different from base car other than front doors
Revised exhaust
Brand new seats
New dash screen/infotainment
Introduced individual settings
Michelin Pilot 4S 265s all around
Rear seat side airbags
Honda's latest version of Sensing
Wireless charger
Wireless Apple caraway
Wireless android auto
More passeger space
Bose amplification for audio

I'm not here to take away from the R. Which... I could. It's nice for what it is. Let's not act like Honda is giving you nothing.
