  1. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Had a chance to do an autocross over the weekend on a relatively bumpy sealed lot and came away really impressed. I ran in Sport suspension mode the whole time and the car just ate the bumps while also rotating beautifully off throttle. Another CTR was there with a National Champion driver...
  2. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

Finally got my photos from Road Atlanta a few weeks ago. Love the way this thing looks on track.
  3. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Not sure about the pre-production vs full production units, but DSC is definitely legit. They have a ton of great videos about how the modules work and guides on tuning. My experience is the baseline calibration was pretty good, but you also have a lot of options for adjusting how the shocks...
  4. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

It's the same as the OEM module - it's just the board that fits into the OEM housing which provides protection/mounting. I was confused initially until I saw how the OEM unit mounted. I have one of the 3d-printed units but I'm assuming the final production ones will be the same.
  5. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Here's a video of a lap with Sport settings. You can get a sense of the bumps/curbs and how well the car handles them.
  6. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

The biggest advantage with coilovers is being able to run higher/stiffer spring rates, and have whatever front/rear spring stiffness balance you want. You can also adjust things like rake to mess with weight balance. Lowering springs can get some of these things, but coilovers usually use...

Thanks! Having driven only RWD cars there before, I described it to my friends as everything that's scary at Road ATL is things that FWD, and especially the CTR, are good at, so you can be pretty aggressive in ways that don't work as well in RWD. The car definitely has a 36 in it and might...
  8. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

tldr: DSC Sport was great on track and I highly recommend it Quick update from my weekend trip to Road Atlanta. DSC has been super responsive to my questions and gave me the latest working version of their updated firmware and base tune. I flashed it on Thursday night before driving down from...

  10. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

The controller comes with presets for the existing modes but you can also adjust how the shocks act within the different modes around 0-100% stiffness vs g-force, speed, steering, etc, along with traditional bump and rebound overlays. There may be some baseline calibration of "what is zero" and...
  11. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Had some good discussion with the folks at DSC about some questions I had after playing around with the controller I thought I would pass along. The first is that the current version of the software doesn't show the TypeR as a vehicle option. They said they are working on an update, but to...
  12. DSC Sport Controller Suspension Module

Installed my DSC controller yesteday. Took about 30 minutes, most of which was going slowly and getting the back seat out. I got one of the 3D printed pre-production units that uses the factory braket for installation (not sure if the production units will be the same). Good quality and no...
  13. Track Day Tire Pressures

35 hot is a solid starting point for almost any tire for lapping sessions - you can keep an eye on the outside shoulder of the fronts to get an idea how much it's being scrubbed and go up or down based on that. 28~30 cold like Josh mentioned should get you around that range. Other than that...
  14. Easy camera and mount for track days?

Here you go - the setup is pieced together from Tackform parts. Link to suction mount Link to telescoping arm
  15. Pedal dance or no pedal dance

I use the pedal dance because it seems more predictable. I've tried +R a few times on track and I don't like the way the car wants to keep doing things when I want it to be steady state. I adjust the balance with rear bar and/or inflation pressure. Except on super cold tires and being...
  16. Easy camera and mount for track days?

I use Racecapture hardware for GPS and basic OBD2 data and an app called Solostorm to record/process/display the data. I export the SoloStorm data and combine it with video in Race Render. Not exactly straightforward but it gives me what I want. If I were starting over I'd probably get a...
  17. Easy camera and mount for track days?

I messed with a couple different options and ultimately settled on a suction mount from the rear glass with extensions to get the POV I wanted. I run a small strap through the seat passthrough to help stabilize it since it's a pretty long lever arm, but so far it seems to be the best solution...

My guess is that's part of the benefit of tuning. On my laps when I was cleaning stuff up on lap 2~3 I would be up through bascially every technical section and losing time on the straights vs. when the car was cool. I told myself I wasn't going to tune but it's definitely tempting.
