Heck, I might just change my mind and the new car will grow on me. I wasn't too crazy about the FK8 when it first came out, either. I usually go for the last year runs, like I did for my FK8, AP1, and EM1, so I may trade mine in in 4-5 years. It's a CTR regardless, so once you're behind the...
Looks good without the camo, but I'm still in the FK8 camp looks-wise. The FK8's wacky styling aside, I think the slanted headlights, lower sloping hood, shorter overall length, and the rising angle of the front-to-rear window beltline give it a meaner stance/look.
If Honda attempts another record at the Nurburgring, it will probably be right after the public announcement, without the camo suit. We'll see what happens.
Stiffer suspension = better handling is a generic statement. In normal street driving, definitely may not apply due to a wide variety of road conditions. For the track, it depends, but in general stiffer is better especially for smoother tracks (good reason why high end aftermarket coilovers...
It also depends on the specific model the Type R is based on. The NSX was a specialty car that was designed as an out-and-out sports car; the Civic is a practical transport for the masses. So the Type R treatment for the Civic won't be as drastic as it was for the NSX. The NA2 NSX was a...
Back in 2017, didn't Honda do the Nurburgring run without the camo wrap for the FK8, like a month after the official reveal? Maybe they will attempt an official one within the next month or so, after they're feeling confident with these mock runs and once the public debut happens. If they did an...
I honestly don't get the whole thing with covering up the car for this long. Any downsides far outweigh the benefits at this point, even for Honda. Let's see. Honda has been selling the 11th generation hatch so people already know what the general shape looks like (the CTR will look a little...
I highly doubt Honda would make a worse handling car with a new generation, although it's possible (EP3 to FN2), and they probably will give it a slight power bump. Probably conservative on both fronts, in Honda fashion.
Maybe they'll try to be cute and give us 307/317hp.
"This car is bigger...
350 would be nice but it wouldn't fly, knowing Honda. Would be very useful for highway flexing (would blow away every car in its class) or on long straights at the track. Even if they did nothing to improve the suspension/handling/aero, the extra power alone might be enough to comfortably beat...
They could limit the power in the first 2 gears and unleash all 350+ horses in the higher gears where traction is less of an issue. Though realistically, I don't see more than 320-330 in the new model, if that.
I actually like the front ends of the FK8, FK2, and AP1/AP2 (S2000), with Honda's signature "slanted headlights" look. I just think "Honda" when I see those headlights. The new CTR (as seen dead-on from the front) reminds me of the old Skylines with the straight and wide headlights (not that...
Gonna have to zonk Honda for the never-ending persistent camo wrap. Maybe downgrade to a half-zonk, if they up the power considerably. 350+ hp would be nice for the final FWD gas engine CTR, to go out with a memorable bang.
As of now, no. Unless there is something substantial that we haven't heard about yet. Not keen about the bloated front end and the lack of the normal front to rear rake on the side beltline. Doesn't seem like there will be meaningful power upgrades either. And honestly, don't want to deal with...
I had an AP1 for 17.5 years/315k miles right before the FK8. Here's my feedback on both...
