This video reminds me of the marketing that Mazda has been doing for the past few years. I saw many of the same comments/philosophies in this video from the Mazda3 introduction in 2018.
The press release mentions that the Manual is optional. Does that mean it is a no charge option now and not lower in price to the CVT? I guess this is the trend now.
Bose Premium Sound System details:
One 3.25-inch (80 mm) Bose Twiddler mid/high-range speaker in the centre of the instrument panel
Four 1-inch (25 mm) lightweight neodymium tweeters – one in each A-pillar and one in each rear door
Two 6.5-inch (165 mm) wide-range speakers – one in each front...
A nice upgrade to the manual option.
“The transmission has been revised for an even sportier feel with improved shift rigidity and shorter shift throws. A new dual-mass flywheel helps reduce noise and vibration transmitted through the drivetrain”
It looks like they were not lying if they compared with the 10th gen refresh as it looks like that is where the big performance drop occurred. Maybe someone needs to do a test between orig 10th gen, 10th gen refresh and 11th.
I would think the Hatchback would be heavier and so would be slightly slower yet. I’d hate to see the 2.0l performance now.
Maybe the manual will provide better performance numbers now.
I am keeping my expectations tempered for the Hatchback, based on what we see here with the SI. I hope they reveal all the hatchback details next week.
It would seem that all manufacturers are going to a liftback style once the sedan reaches a certain size. There may be some marketing, style, size or technical reasons for this but it seems like everyone has done this.
Some interesting comments from Vtec.

I had the opportunity to sit inside a 2022 White Civic Sport Sedan, and I’m able to compare its interior (and maybe exterior) to my Civic Type R.

Since Honda won’t be doing a Hatch SI this means we will likely see manual options for both the 2.0l and 1.5l. Hopefully we will get the trim details on the 23rd
As mentioned in the OP, the article is from Japan so much of the details don’t apply to the US. The key item is the premiere of the Hatchback in July. Not sure how this was missed.
This leak is from a Japanese web site and I copied only the relevant info for the US/Canada. So it looks like the Hatchback will be shown in July with detailed specs in August. Only a couple of months to go.

Here, the scoop team obtained valuable information...
The Mazda Bose system has a DSP/amp under the passenger seat that accepts line level inputs from the head unit. Assuming Bose does something similar with the Civic then you could replace the DSP and add your own amp and speakers. I know that some Mazda Bose systems were upgraded this way.
Or SI could come standard with CVT and then offer a no charge manual option. The worst possible outcome of increasing the SI price while effectively killing the future of manuals.
