Miatas are great race cars when everybody else is in one also. Terrible track day cars. Sucks to feel like you're really getting everything out of it just to have gramps in his corvette blow by you on the straights then idle through the corners.
I can definitely see that. Those corvettes, especially the C8 just teleport in the straights.

I try to avoid Hyperfest at this point. The general organization of the event has slipped quite a bit from its initial inception. Last time it was there it was a nightmare.
I don't think I'd enjoy it if I were driving. I've gone the last couple of years and had a blast but none of us bring cars. It's our annual boys weekend trip now. We just go down to party and have a good time.

This was the same issue when I was on motorcycles. The 1000cc bikes would blow by you on the straight and then park it in the corners. the speed differential was insane

the corvette will do the same thing to the type R, even BMW m2, once it hits the straights is bye bye bye.

With the miata though this will happen with all kinds of cars thats the problem lol

It's the only weekend where you have to be really careful about what you leave out in the paddock for fear of theft since spectators are constantly roaming through.

Yea it's a mess but a good time if you don't have to focus on anything. Last year a random dude got lost and passed out in my camper haha. Found him later in the weekend to give him his boots back because he walked home barefoot lol.

It's hard to get better when you have to focus on speed differential EVERY single lap. It's becomes less fun having to go slow in the corners because they passed you on the straight after you spent the lap eventually passing them in the corners.

It's also one of the reasons I don't enjoy track days because of the cars and the differential in drivers

You make a good point. If you're looking to improve it's probably a lot easier to do it in a low HP car. I'm just looking to have fun and the Civic is way more fun than the Miata for me.

The civic is indeed fun. I’ve only tracked my S2000 and the FK8 and now FL5. Going fast in the straight gets your heart pumping. ?

I support this. I've never done a track day other than drag racing in other cars. If I were to go to a track day in my fl5. I'd probably have one of the fastest there however probably one of the slower times lol

All this depends on the group you are with. You get with a good group and the point bys are flowing but if you get on a group with some people with a huge ego you spend the whole time behind them in the curves and then they will just fly on the straights to then completely butcher the first turn and you caught up.

I've seen this in person, and also in a lot of videos from other drivers at my home track. It's awful to see a GT3 that is solely beating my time because of straight line speed, just to watch them butcher every single corner.

and its totally fine to be slow in a fast car (hello!) but then just point people by, its not hard, look at your mirrors and let people through. It is funny that it is usually really fast cars though, corvettes being the main offenders lol
