The 2023 civic type r has a button cover next to the drive mode selector:

11th Gen Honda Civic What can I replace this button cover with? 1698443782229

I think this is where the auto stop button would go if we had one. I'm wondering if we can replace this button cover with a button that does something cool?

I had a B5 A4 and used a stock Audi switch in a dummy spot wired up to mute my radar detector.

NOS button

…but seriously. What would be REALLY cool is an auto rev match on/off button. And it’s right by the shifter, so it’d make a lot of sense.

As a more realistic idea, it’d be cool if it was simply some kind of accessory button, like a Homelink button or something like that.

I'm curious, because I've seen folks talk about this a lot, but I don't get it. How often do you change the rev match setting? It seems, at least to me, that you either use it or you don't. I wouldn't want a button where I can accidentally change it. So for me having it in the menu is perfect. It's just not something I will change often, if at all.

A more useful button would have been one to control the valve on the OEM exhaust. Open/Closed.

I love this idea! You can buy a mod that comes with a key fob button to open/close the valve. It would be cool if that same company could make a button that would fit into the cover slot.

it is compatible with the stock exhaust, you do not need to buy the milltek exhaust.

When stock, opening and closing the valve doesn’t seem to do anything that the system doesn’t automatically do, though. What would be the point? There’s virtually no difference in sound at low RPMs and at high RPMs it opens automatically. With exhausts like Milltek, at least there’s an audible difference even at idle…so, I can understand the use of a button in this case.

@urbo73 I know you’re not a fan of auto rev match. That’s fine. But to me and others, there’s a time and place for it on/off as discussed elsewhere. Having a button would simply be convenient. Accidentally hitting it is a risk how? Regardless, this is pointless because I don’t think it’s possible for someone, other than Honda, to actually make such a thing.

I'm a fan of rev match. I've seen people wanting a button to change it, but I can't imagine a scenario where one would change it often. Like you're just driving along, and you feel like changing it? I don't get it. How is it a risk to accidentally change it? Because if you are used to downshift with it ON or OFF, then you expect it to behave a certain way, and if you switch it by accident to the other way, you'll be thrown off. Can hurt transmission, etc.

@urbo73 I get what you’re saying. Yeah, I suppose most of the time you’d know in advance if you want rev match on/off…like if you’re going to a track or planning a spirited drive. I’ve read where other cars (BMW maybe?) had rev match on a button and I guess it stuck in my head as a nice-to-have feature. I just wish it wasn’t buried in the menus. And yeah, I can see where accidentally turning rev match off could be a problem. I think most people who drive manual are more engaged in what they’re doing and would quickly react, but still it could be no bueno.
