There are 600+ FL5 R's on Autotrader in the country rn, new and used, so I don't know how any of these dealers think they can charge anything but MSRP or below.

i have a local dealer who still has a 2024 that they're trying to get over for. even when you find one at MSRP down here (Carolinas), there's some bogus BS package and/or a bogus BS "doc fee". I've been in the car business 20 yrs now and it still boggles my mind :banghead:

Plus the fact that dealers are paying insurance and cost on that car after 90 days.

Depends on the color really. Since black and (especially) red account for like 5-10% of total production, it's damn near impossible to find one at MSRP. On last check, there were like 9 new reds in the entire country, compared to 175 white.

I agree though, white, blue and grey are pretty much everywhere at this point. No chance I'd pay over MSRP for those colors right now.

I’m still looking for a championship white CTR at MSRP. I’m in the Chicago suburbs, please let me know if you have any leads. Schaumburg Honda is asking like $4k over and they have 3 CTR’s in stock
Schaumburg dealer is a POS. I put myself on their list 1 year before the type R came out; didn’t tell me about any ADM. 3 months before first shipments were coming, I asked and they THEN told me 15k markup. I had to find some other dealer and wait another 1 year before I got the car. They suck!

Honda pro Jason is based out of that store, thought maybe they wouldn’t be such assholes with markups.

yep it’s nutty how rare red is. About 10 new ones in the entire country right now. Even when factoring in used, that brings the total to about 25ish.

most dealers in 2024 dont have a floorplan

whats crazy is that i can get a red one without issue at msrp plus $775 “package”. a local NC store has 2 customers ahead of me that want anything but red ?

ps Vann York is $3500 over lol

Just fyi they were/are desperate to move these. Called me everyday at one point and at the end were offering 1500 under sticker. I only wanted black or red though.

New to thus forum. Ive been waiting since late 2021 for the market to straighten out. So many of my generation's Japanese great cars were making a comeback. However, inventory was a mess across the board. So, I've been waiting. Even in late 2021, when the dealer only got the on SH A Spec RDX, I still paid MSRP and no additional upsells.

Fast forward to this week, and I checked out the Acura Type S at my local (Ft Walton Beach FL) Acura dealer and they had a $14,000 mark up on it. They would drop a few thousand at best but I wasn't going to waste my time.

I then went to a local-ish Honda dealer in Pensacola and found a Championship White 2025 CTR.

Then the reality hit. Offered me right around what I know my vehicle is worth on trade in. Fair, however....

Dealer markup 6846.00. Pro Pack (tint, mats, and some sort of paint and interior protectant)1998.00. Then they pushed for Platinum Plus package 4yr/60K at 1362.00 and finally Honda care at 1982.00. Was advised will not budge on markup as it is the one vehicle they are allowed to mark up.

I could likely get the care packages dropped and at least reduce the price of the Pro Pack, but I'm not willing to pay the mark up just because they can.

47145 00
6846.00
1998.00
1362.00
1982.00
2908.18. (Tax and other fees)

62,241.18 real price.

I'd love to get into a fun to drive car with a manual and still have usable space but this feels egregious. I keep reading on sites or seeing on YouTube how folks are getting at MSRP.

I will broaden my search area but feel a bit weird possibly buying a car without seeing it in person. I'd also have to arrange to sell my own car as it is to be my down payment.

I bought my first car in 1992 (Dad cosigned for me) and have never experienced this level of upcharging. Worst I've dealt with in the past is not budging on MSRP for certain cars, but today's marker. Oof.

Just keep searching, maybe a little outside of your normal radius. There are msrp deals to be had, especially on the “common” colors like CW, BB and SGP. Red and black might be a different story.

I am from Texas, originally from Ohio. Put a deposit this past Sunday an CW 2025 Type R. Picked it up Jan 2 and started driving back Jan 3. If you like boost blue, they have these 2 remaining as of Jan 2. They will sell at invoice just like mine. Paid $44,818.73 including title & registration of $35 and $387 doc fee. Everything but sales tax since I'm from Texas. If these are sold, check around with dealers up north. They will sit until Spring in most cases.
