Hey guys, I need some advice. I just bought these coilovers for Black Friday, and this will be my first time installing something like this. Do I need any specific tools as a strut spreader? Thanks.

I lowered 2 FL5's last month (my 2024 and a 1 month old 2025) on Swift springs. Use lots and lots of WD40 to get in between the strut and knuckle. Wiggle the two pieces, spray some more. We were able to get slide the knuckle down with minimal effort. The hardest part was the last few mm needed to slide the the knuckle off the bottom of the strut, which a large pry bar is needed. Recommend taking off the Axle nuts too, it's not that hard, and push the axle inwards to avoid the chance of it popping out of the transmission.

Man, I wish I had seen your message before starting. I ended up getting so frustrated with the knuckle that I just yanked it off, and I popped off the axle. Thankfully, there was no fluid or anything, and I ended up being able to reconnect the axle to a transmission. Hopefully, it won’t leak? I spent a day just to do one coil.

Man, I bought something similar, and I’m still struggling to take off the knuckle. Any suggestions?

That tool, plus some PB Blaster type of lube, dead blow hammer, decent size pry bar, loosen the axle nut, and patience. When you insert that tool in and spread the knuckle open leave it in there until you see some progress.

Thanks. I’m going to head to the store tomorrow to buy everything. I didn’t know to loosen the axle nut for the one I got done.

They say to do the one on the driver side because of the seal, but I did both sides just to relief pressure when lowering down the knuckle assembly.

Man, I wish I got this information before I started because I popped it right off, but after putting the axle back on, I didn’t see any fluid. I hope it will be okay. Lol

Hopefully you'll be fine, but I think most report the leak after driving, but I could be wrong.
