This leak is from a Japanese web site and I copied only the relevant info for the US/Canada. So it looks like the Hatchback will be shown in July with detailed specs in August. Only a couple of months to go.

https://bestcarweb.jp/news/284844

Here, the scoop team obtained valuable information. It was a manual for dealers on how to prepare for the introduction of new models.

In the manual, the name "YX" is used, but after reading the contents, it is immediately clear that the information is about the new Civic. The manual clearly states that the new Civic will be available as a 5-door hatchback.

As for the future schedule, dealers have already started taking orders for display models, and the production of the model is scheduled to start in June this year.

The launch is said to be in the summer, but according to all sources, the plan is to have the world premiere in July, and the official announcement and launch in late August.

The tail lights will probably look a bit more like those on the new HRV. I remember seeing a spy shot of the civic hatch and the way the tail light leds were separated and positioned reminded me of the HRV.

Oh dear god, my eyes.

If this render is true, I'd take 100 sedans over this hatchback. And I'm not sold on the Sedan design at all yet.

We already know what the hatch's back end will look like based on the spy shots and the patent images...

Personally, I like the tail light treatment on this rendering more than what is actually going to be on the hatch, but its not bad either, better than the sedans massive sonata looking rear lights. The rendering does get the overall shape of the rear spot on, but the 3rd side window isn't quite shaped like that.

I think that it looks weird because the back little triangle windows are covered, the flow of the back looks more natural and less like a blocky turtle when you can see those windows.

Still I agree a GTI- or Mazda3-style hatch shape looks better vs this liftback-esque design.

I think it really needs an aggressive diffuser or something - the solid color featureless area between license plate and bottom bumper looks really boring unlike 10th gen.

First time I’ve seen it, thanks. The rear looks better than the Jetta/Sonata tail lights on the sedan.

Sketch Monkey on YT did a decent job of cleaning them up. Making them smaller makes the rear look more Audi less VW. A black sedan with the tail light lower non-red section tinted would be ok.

Few bullet points from the article:
  • The new civic hatchback will debut this summer (around August) in pure gasoline form
  • The e:HEV (hybrid) version & the Type R version will appear in 2022.
  • Built in UK plant
  • The 4dr sedans discontinued in Japan.
  • World premier in July
  • Official announcement in late August
  • EX (advanced grade)
    , 10.2 inch TFT meter
    , leather x suede seat
    , adaptive driving beam
    , BOSE audio
    , LED FOG
    , driver's seat 8Way / passenger seat 4Way power seat
    , wireless charge
  • LX (base grade)
    , 9-inch display audio navigation
    , blind spot information
    , knee airbags
, left and right independent air conditioners
In a different article from the same website. There Is speculation (from a supposedly trusted source) that the new type R will have the same engine as the current model but the rear wheels will be a hybrid that combines two independent motors.
