I have had a RV6 rear sway bar sitting in my garage for a few months waiting for a little "free time" to get around to installing it. I was changing the oil today and rotating the tires so I figured today was the day. Long story short, you do not need to lower the exhaust to swap out the rear bar. You do need to get the rear of the car was high as possible, but there is a ton of room to rotate the bar just right to get it in and out.

I removed the stock bar with the end links attached, but I put the RV6 bar in without the links, and attached them after I had it in position. Pack your patience and rotate the arm of the bar down into the channel in the LCA on the right side first. Then with some careful twisting and lifting the bar as high as possible into the void above I was able to just barely get the left side arm of the bar to slip down into the LCA channel. Do not attempt to force anything, just keep rotating the arms while pushing the bar up until you can slip it in. This required zero force, and took about 5 minutes of wiggling to get it in.

I greased the bushings and put them on the bar prior to fishing it in the car but be careful not to damage them. I didn't take any photos because the hell known as sway bar grease had become one with my hands and I couldn't touch anything.

TLDR: I would have done this a long time ago if I knew how easy it was going to be. I set it on full stiff and it makes a massive difference. Best bang for the buck suspension mod out there by far. And the stock end links are steel, no need to upgrade unless you need to corner weight the car.

Thats what she said.

But really, the rear bar is one of the easiest to do on these cars.

Lol

Having done one on a mk7 GTI last year, I'll do a FL5 rear bar any day of the week.

Try a BMW F-series.

I charge 4-5 hours just for the rear bar alone. Not fun at all.

MK7 GTI bar is 1.5-2hr charge in comparison lol
