New Type R owner here. There seems to be conflicting views from what ive read out there so far as to whether a tune is needed or not for the intake. Any issues so far? What are your thoughts?
100% does not require a tune. No issues.

year after install and I've had no problems mechanically with this intake. it does sound great but gets dirty real quick. great add and I'm planning on heat wrapping mine as well. same with the inlet tube

Two years, 11k miles or so and it's holding up great. No degradation of the filter, no heat soak issues, just lots of good sound!

Have you checked fuel trims with this intake? I'd also be interested in replacing the foam filter with something else. Do you kn the od of the velocity stack?

So not sure how old you guys are but something for you guys to think about in the 90s and early 2000s HKS mushroom style filters for super popular; problem was they were all made of foam.

The forums eventually were all flooded with people finding chunks of their foam filter missing and many having engine issues from it being sucked into their engine so please be cautious of using any foam filter. I personally would never use one.

Just wanted you guys to be aware of the potential downfall would hate to see anyone have issues down the line

Picked one up this weekend for cheap off of Facebook marketplace. Any 6" flange cone filter will fit nice and snug on this intake. I went with the AEM Dryflow 21-2093dk as this is the one I had on my PRL HVI for a bit.

Took a mini 250 mile road trip with this intake and it performed flawlessly. LTFT settled at 0.78 and IAT at the MAF sensor was sitting right at ambient when cruising on the highway. Overall, I'm happy with the Piper Cross intake!
