No message tone through CarPlay

When I first purchased the car I received text tones when connected to CarPlay and the banner would show on the display. Now I still get the banner but I am not get any sound for messages. I get sound when a call comes through and when using CarPlay for everything else. I can’t figure it out at all. Any suggestions?

From my experience the solution I found out that there was a separate volume for incoming text messages, and it was turned down. Don't know how, or why. Just have someone text you, and when you see the banner push the volume up on your steering wheel. You'll see a volume indicator go up that is not related to your music volume. I am not aware of a setting in the iPhone itself to change it.

Check your phone. Settings > Notifications > Announce Notifications > CarPlay.
