Good day all,
Just a PSA
I have a 24' Type R that was bought brand new off the lot earlier this year in May. I noticed around 300 miles while in my garage when the car was started and AC was running I could hear a rattle noise that would be replicated further when you push the throttle down just a tiny bit the blip. I carried on thinking that it was possibly normal since this is my first Type R but in the back of my head it just didn't sound right to me. Flash forward another 3000 miles and I was able to figure out what was causing the issue when I was in the drive-thru at a McDonald's when it was making the same noise - when I pushed the clutch in the noise would go away. When I started researching it ended up being the input shaft bearing in the transmission already failing. Took it to the dealership and showed them, they took a stethoscope to the tranny and hear it themselves after hearing it by the driver side front tire where the tranny sits. I was told this is the first issue that any Type R has had and couldn't find anyone else having this problem.
If anyone has this same issue I hope this post may help with yours. It's currently being repaired under warranty as we speak and they're investigating what caused this to happen in the first place.
