Hi folks, like a few in here, I installed the EVS rear tow hook with the intention of cutting parts of the tow hook plastic cover instead of having the entire area exposed.

I think the stem needs to be about 1-1.5 inches longer so that it would clear the top of the bumper cover and likely give us a chance for a smaller cut or close to just drilling a hole big enough for the tow hook piece to fully thread.

I just provided this feedback along with some pictures to my Evasive contact and learned that this part is also used on the FK8. Therefore in order to make another revision, there needs to be enough interest for it. I’m using this thread to collect input, gauge interest for a revision and letting Evasive see this.

I already purchased the Evasive hook and had the same issue with it. IMO it was lazy of them not to create a new revision for the FL5 that clears the tow hook cover. I suspect other users would share the same concern so Evasive should fix this. Having the whole cover removed looks bad.

Additionally, if they are revising the tow hook they should also make the shaft diameter smaller so it can actually be threaded all the way in. Mine only threaded in a few threads before interfering with the sheet metal of the car. If you compare it to the diameter of the stock tow hook it's obvious where it needs to lose some material.

I ended up modifying mine to convert it to a tow strap that extends far enough out to use a tow hook cover with a small hole in it.

I was waiting for you to chime in since you were the one sharing the OEM part number.

Which tow strap are you using?

From a business perspective I see why they made it a part that is used on both FK8 and FL5. To me, all they really need is to extend either the stem or the tow hood part. The smaller diameter would be nice but not as necessary.

But based on the number of views and responses, I think we are not going to see a revision.

I'm using a Sparco tow strap.

I also understand it from a business perspective. But if it was my business I would not be okay with selling something that is compromised, even if it's just a slight annoyance to the users.

Whether selling a newly designed product or a product that can be copied and pasted from the FK8, it needs to be thoroughly tested and test fit on the FL5 before selling it.

As an engineer myself, there's no excuse from my perspective. The revision would take 5 minutes max for both the things I mentioned, both CAD and engineering drawing updates. Managing supply chain, inventory, and stocking another part I can understand not wanting to do, that is where it can get expensive.

Not trying to bash Evasive, just want to provide productive criticism, like you @TW00Si. I've been an Evasive customer for the last 12ish years and don't plan to change that.
