Damn, I may have to take a trip over there to check it out! My dealer in Brampton said when they get there's in he'll call me and I can come check it out and drool over it while I wait for mine to come next year. He said I can sit in it and what not, but just can't drive it (obviously)

i read somewhere on here that Honda was surprised by the demand...so i think they are aware haha idk what made them think demand would be less than FK8, maybe they thought fk8 satiated some demand and there wouldnt be much demand left anymore lol

I'm guessing they interviewed like Pilot and regular civic owners and asked if they'd buy it, most probably were like "na, not at that price"

So after @onepointsix posted last night, I took a look this morning haha. It's still there and, holy it looks amazing. I'll admit, I was somewhat concerned if I'd like the dialed down looks. Seeing it in person took away any doubt. Doesn't look like regular traffic at all. My impression was similar to seeing a cayman GT4. Its just the right amount of "racecar" to grab your attention. It's also quite low, or appears to be which I like. Can't wait to hear people's thoughts when they get their first look!

I was comparing it to my FG2 last night and its sooo wide. If I manage to get the FL5, I'm going to look into power folding mirrors so it'll safely fit in my garage lol.

Someone at Precision Honda in Mississauga, ON took delivery of theirs already. I didn't get to see this car but it was posted on TorontoCarSpotting FB page.

I requested my refund back from the dealer close by after I got the good news from this dealer.

"Honda Canada has brought to our attention that you have two orders placed for the 2023 Honda Civic Type R, one with us and another at a Lower Mainland store. Honda is monitoring these orders very closely and doesn't want a local client missing out on an order when a deposit might be blocking them.

We will be refunding your deposit and allowing one of our local clients to move forward and order a Type R. The deposit you placed at the other Lower Mainland store will be be honoured at this time.

At your convenience, please contact our Sales Manager, (after 11am today) to refund your deposit on your Mastercard."

This suxs.

wtf.. they just emailed you? r u goonna call them and explain u withdrew your deposit from the other dealer?

I did. I told him i cancelled my deposit after hearing that the order has been placed with Honda.


I'm out. The dealer or Honda should of told me that they were only going to sell to local buyers on the Island.

"Honda has instructed us not to sell any 2023 Civic Type R's outside of our primary market area. Therefore we will be unable to have you on our waiting list. The waiting list is currently at nine, with our store only getting 6 units over the next three years, so the chances of getting one would have been slim.

As I mentioned, please contact George Soloff after 11am to have your deposit returned.

Sorry I didn't have better news for you."

I went to Vancouver Island (Victoria); i think its close enough. None of the information was trickled down to me; not even how many cars that they were getting over the 3 years. I've been left out in the dark until end of last month. Then I went to the first Honda to request my deposit back.
