Had the car for about 3 months and changed the oil at 2,292 miles, with MM oil life showing 80%.
Short trips for most of the week (avg 3.3 miles), and get some highway driving on weekends. With that being said, I was curious to see the fuel dilation measurements. I did post this on BITOG to get some feedback as I'm no expert in reading this but am hoping to learn. I do plan on doing another UOA for the next few oil changes so data can be compared. Currently in the sump is HPL NoVII 5w30 with a FE filter.

Viscosity at 100c is 6.8 CSt. Range for a 20w is 6.9 to 9.2. So the oil looks to have sheered down to a lower weight oil. Wonder what the starting cst is.

Good evidence for those who prefer to change the oil after a few thousand miles on the odo.

The factory fill was on the thin side for me as well. The silicon content is from sealants. The wear metals and silicon content should drop a bunch for the 2nd change.

Might be interested in this thread. I think the moly is from assembly vs in the oil itself.
Do recall reading that. However, there seems to be data proving that the Honda Engine Type 2.0 oil (used for factory fill) contains high moly content. This oil is NOT sold here in the US and believe is only available in Europe(?). There is some discussion about this on the BITOG link I provided, including VOA/UOAs.

Based on a VOA provided on BITOG, 7.99

I had read NoVII was better for engines that are prone to fuel dilution. Can't seem to find the source, but if I do I'll share.

Reason I wanted to share the results, just to try and contribute to the CTR community, provide data for those contemplating whether or not to change the FF early or wait for the MM. Again, I did drive many short trips for the duration.

I do plan on doing UOAs for the next few oil changes and sharing the data.

It seems the USA honda oil 0-20 has a flashpoint of 220C / 428F. Some are saying also it’s below 400F. My understanding is a higher number helps ensure sheer resilience. Motul 8100 power 0-20 has a 238C /460.4F flashpoint.

Would it be better to run a 0w-20 with a higher flashpoint, that also flows well?

Curious do you guys have any updates on oil since you’ve changed or stayed with honda oem synthetic?
