I'm beginning to think the chatter of this forum has worsened it as well lol. Good banter on here, but we definitely wind each other up with she said she said etc. Then the date passes and it feels like awww f*ck cmon wheres the info?
Suffering as a group is a fun way to spend time. All for one and one for all lol. But u get what you mean.

OK, so whats up with this "waiting list"?? I contacted my local dealership & they said there was NO WAITING LIST and that the new Type R is going to be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Does is just go by the dealership preferences or? They also stated that they may only be getting one in when released. Does that mean that "one" is going to get the outrageous mark-up?

Varies by dealer, but none of it means a damn thing until dealers get an allocation of vin numbers THEN you can typically put a deposit down. Basically you just need to contact a bunch of dealers and tell them to call you when they receive their vin allocations.

So why are people saying they've put deposits down already and have a spot?? Are some dealerships actually taking deposits and holding spots?

Some dealerships accept deposits and have people on waiting lists. Some dealerships do first come first serve.

Same in the UK - refundable deposit secures place in queue to order should a vehicle become available. If you walked in off the street to order you would be behind the deposit holders

Nah, its not the same. Previous years didn't cast doubt on their ability to actually even produce the car. Then you have company execs in different markets talking about how super limited it will be etc etc. Supply chain issues coupled with the hype have made it feel much more drawn out and more of a beating then previous go rounds.
It's the same.

You live in Texas. American Honda has provided no such indication. They have not cast doubt about their ability to produce the car. What you see on the news are production cuts at specific plants but no indication on what cars or parts. To dealers they continue to push that inventory is coming. It an entirely different tune than what they told us when this all started.

This just happenens to coincide with with demo units showing up at dealers in Japan and apparently a handful running around the United States. They are taking orders. You see contracts all over.

I sell these things. I have taken orders on next generation Hondas for a long time. This is exactly the same as any other Honda. Look no further than the Civic Si. People saw them driving around the states lightly disguised months before they could get them.

They have a process and we are going through one part of it right now. The problem is that you read too much into what some GM or dealer said or supposedly a rep... Just looking for some sort of inside info. Instead of trusting the process Honda has done all the time. It's the hype that's killing you.

It's crazy... Sometimes I wonder if I'm the fool. I get paid to do this very thing in real life. I try to offer my experience and transparency.

YouTube click bait and everyone speaking to a GM or sales guy and hearing something different gets everyone going. So I can't fully blame people. Again I hear these things in real life. Promises from dealers and all sorts of stuff. In the end I just trust the process until Honda says otherwise. The only vehicle I can say they have back tracked on is the '23 CRV and while they claimed a month it seems to be less time than that.

bc people are lying trying to make you jealous.... internet warriors
I dont think anybody is lying. I have 2 deposits down at 2 different dealers. I'm #1 at a dealer in Indiana that promised me with written confirmation 3k above MSRP. Then I'm #4 at another dealer in Pennsylvania 5k above. Supposedly another dealer in West Virginia has me promised at #1 for his dealer with no deposit at 5k above. Finally there is another dealer in West Virginia that as long as the one they get is boost blue I'm promised that car at MSRP. But no written confirmation.

Does this mean I'm promised an FL5? No...but I'd like to think my chances are pretty good. I contacted 200 dealers and only these 4 gave me any sort of promise. If the list they had was to long or their markup was too much for me (10k and up) I chose to look the other way. Most others say what you guys experience (no list, waiting on info, won't take deposit till allocation,
first come first serve, etc...) But I can at least rest a little knowing there is at least 1 dealer who is pegged to get at least one over 3 years that I'm #1 on with a written confirmation along with MSRP markup.

People aren't lying, some people look harder than others. Every dealer is different. Call a couple hundred and you will find that out yourself. Sometimes you have to put in the work to find the right deal if any at all, that's not a knock to the people who don't but just an observation. Hopefully all this follow up leads to me getting one. There are almost 1000 dealers in the US they all do not think or operate the same.

I dont understand knocking on people or calling them out ?‍♂

Some places simply have decided not to take deposits and everything they get is FCFS.

My dealer has decided to stop taking deposits on the FL5 because we have 4 deposits after mine. At this point, if a salesperson has someone who is interested we are glad to take their information and keep them informed if something becomes available but there is next to no reason to take money from anyone anymore. Since we are an MSRP dealer, to the customer is of no consequence to give us a deposit and wait. However, to us, it's just an annoying accounting issue. Someone will eventually in a few months come looking for their deposit after they find a Type R somewhere else.

Someone posted this one of the FB groups. Not sure how accurate it is. @Tickle or anyone else for a dealership can confirm? Could just be someone stirring the pot.

Orders open the 12th. Sometimes reps will give you a heads up on things. The only thing I've seen change are rates for certain vehicles.

I don't feel qualified to confirm or deny information someone else sees. There are so many reps, zones and districts. So I'm comfortable going toff Honda's past and that makes this seem unlikely. If it were the Type R LE... It's limited production may warrant such a thing.

So that doesn't move me one way or another.
