I'm pretty sure for us Canadians this will start to happen. Dealers will find out they are getting 1 or 2 annually and those will be "sold" to friends and family or those that are willing to adding $$$ onto packages to juice up profits.

Along those lines, I'm guessing that they are refunding deposit holders simply based off of assumption, rather than concrete details, at this point. With the numbers for the Canadian market that are going around this thread, even 5 people in line would probably mean a waiting list of two years or more. Still, there's always the chance that people at the front of the line will drop out for one reason or another -- odd to start handing out deposits preemptively.

Well my week just got ruined, both dealers where I had deposits called me today to tell me they are not getting enough allocation and refunded my deposits so FML. Guess I am not getting a Type R...hopefully Honda fixes this blunder in Canada over the next few years. If you are in Canada expect some calls over the next few days...good luck

Unless you absolutely need this car as your primary vehicle, just wait it out and don’t FOMO into this madness. Stealerships (those that charge excessive ADM) absolutely don’t deserve your business. Even if you’re currently on a waitlist, walk off the deal if it has outrageous ADM. The market will return to normal in due time.

ADMs are akin to our dealer added packages. It's far less crazy, but we have incremental costs here also.
